lt500r swingarm bolt removal

I've got the nut and washer off, and the motor and swingarm both pivot on the bolt... but the bolt seems to be frozen in the frame?  The schematic shows only one set of threads where the nut goes on, so I should be able to lift the bike and tap it out right?  Any help appreciated.

I have seen a swingarm bolt so frozen, that we put the quad one it's side and held a very large punch and hit it with a sledge hammer and it didn't move. You might be able to beat it out. Soak it good with some PB Blaster. I had to cut the bolt in pieces and then remove the pieces from the frame and the swingarm. It was on an 87 250R. Good Luck.

He's right, PB Blaster and beat the hell out of it. It'll come eventually.

Just thought of this, might work, might not.
Put the nut back on the bolt or double nut it and lock them tight. Use a impact wrench to see if you can get it to move some.
Then try some heat.

when i took mine out of my lt250r i had to use a impact wrench turning the bolt as i used a punch from the other end beating it out . call a friend and have some fun ...

Had the same prob on my zilla. Here's what I did....

Take the nut off and washer. Tilt the bike on it's side nut side up and spray PB blaster in and around the swing arm bolt on all of the pivot sections. Also make sure you get a nice pool of PB blaster around the nut end. Leave it overnight but periodically spray it throughout the night.

Next day put the bike back on all fours. With an impact wrench I would turn the swing arm bolt and have a friend hit the other end with a hammer and small piece of wood. I tried to use metal but began to mushroom the end of the bolt. After few beers and alot of swearing it came out. When you put the new bearings in make sure you have removed all of the old bearings as pieces of the old bearing will be seized to the frame. Hope this helps.  -Mark

 if you have access to a pneumatic hammer thats you best bet,as the air tool does all the work. if not a HEAVY sledgehammer and some patience. replace the bolt with a stainless steel one.(if they make it for your quad)
