What I would do is get a friends truck and park it in that same parking lot and stake it out. Catch them in the act.

Yeah, that would be the real smart thing to do; stake out a truck to catch the guys who you know have at least one gun.  Sounds like an excellent way to commit suicide by stupidity.  Leave the heroics to law enforcement.
