400ex problems

alright i just bought a 2004 400ex and its almost perfect.extreamly clean .the frame doesnt even have a scrach.it has 10 hrs on it .the problem is it wont idle and i can ride it but if i give it gas it boggs down and stalls .it has no work done to it .gas tank vent isnt cloged and tried to adjust the idle and that didnt work it runs real rough tell me what you think .if the carb needs to be cleand just try to instruct me on how to do so .thanks nick

I have a 2004 400EX also and when mine starts cold, when you hit the gas it has horrible throttle response and doesn't want to go.  Also if I take my air box lid off it will do that.  I'm not sure the problem you have but I'm just saying what mine does similar to that.

well if it only has 10 hours on it and its a 04, then the carb is probly clogged, take the bowl off and spray out all the jets with carb cleaner and make sure the needle and seat are clean

Check the needle, i'd be willing to bet your needle tip is bent, i had the same problem.
