where are the timing plugs located on a 2004 yfz? i have heard people say they suck and you need new ones but i dont know where they are.

if this is what your talking about its right above the exhaust on the head. buy a billet one.

Ive never heard em called timing plugs. What he is referring to in the above pic is a decompression plug. They do need to be swapped out with a billet plug. As you can see in his pic, his is held in with a small screw if you will. The stok plugs, especially on your bike fox are plastic w/ nothing keeping it from blowing out. The aftermarket plugs have a shoulder that the screw fits in and prevents it from popping or blowing out.

ok. i dont know what they are called. i just heard something comes out and screws up stuff so i wanted a good one.

btw what is a timing plug? gytr sells them. thats what i thought the things that fell out were.

on the case on the left hand side, just above the shifter, there is what looks like you could take a large flat head screwdriver and turn. That is a cap that you can twist out and look insind the case and check the position of your timing mark, thats probably what youre talkin about. You can actually use a socket to reach in there and turn that mark to position it to set the timing, before you go in and adjust the valves or retard the cam (stok cam mod).

to me mod quad has been great. i had there swingarms axle nut and many other products.
