guess what, I found a group of them set up camp about 1/4 mile East of the little pond where we took the LMK Group Ride picture last year.

They are there and all dressed up in their hippie clothing, complete with the sandals.

I'm impressed though, it seems like this year some of them actually have money of their own because they have nice camping gear and one of them even has an old school bus

Rainbow people are a bunch of drugged out wannabe hippies. The group travels the country & stays in forests like this. These are the type of people who live in a tree to keep the lumberjack from cutting it down. I went to a Rainbow gathering about 13yrs ago in the ONF. I was with a bunch of friends from UF. These people have so many different types in the group it is silly. You have the hareKrishnas, the filthy unbathed women who are ...lets say au-naturale & harrier than an ape and the men with beards to their waist & hair to match. There are large groups of filthy nudists also. At night they all come to a clearing in the forest & build a HUGE fire & dance naked and drugged out all around it all night long to the beat of homeade leather drums. Trust me you wont get a treat looking at these nudists, unless you are into filth & hair all over. The year I was there a girl was raped & killed in front of her boyfriend who they tied to a tree in the forest & made him watch then killed him. IMHO this group is just trying to figure out how not to contribute to society in a productive manner & tons of derelicts & convicts on the run are in this group for anonymity.

Just one point guys... I lived in the 60's. Hippies BATHED. It was their 4th favorite thing to do.

Sex, drugs, rock and roll, and bath. Ever see the cover to the Woodstock album? They were even bathing on there. It was a great excuse to get naked.

Hippes were not dirty. Hairy.... I'll give you that one.

just wanted to clear some stuff up here the ocala gathering is a shithole with shady people. and its looked down on by real rainbows, ocala is not a representation of the true rainbows .also alot of these people are hard working much like yourselves, others are not and are "dirty hippies" but thats something you rednecks will never get. much like i will never get you guys so no hard feelings.

sounds like you know what your talking about.if a rainbow wants to camp in the forest,fine with me.I dont think everyone that rides an ATV is a redneck.I dont think the stores and gas stations hire off duty police for no reason.if you look on the rainbow websites they all list ocala as one of there gatherings.

first of all i am not a rainbow i see some of their belief's as kind of hypocrytical. "rainbow websites" you see there should be no such thing.there is nothing "official" when it comes to the rainbows . the ocala gathering is not even planned by the rainbow council anymore.its more of a party in the woods these days and tons of shady characters go there like gutter punks and hobos.i dont know about the stealing since ive never been there and i have no idea whos doing it but i know a real rainbow wont steal.

so I guess since my grandfather back in the 70's hated it when they came to town that this is a "new" thing? The only nice people I have met near them have been the people looking for them to see what they are about(if anything).

i never said this was new they have been around since the early 60's. the fact that they signed the permit should tell you it was not real rainbows.they dont sign permits they never will.the guy that went ahead and signed the permit in the name of rainbows.is from the christian jesus rainbows or whatever they are called. this guy has been running it for years he is no rainbow.like i said all of the problems you guys are havin in ocala are from drifters,gutter punks, that slowly took over the ocala gathering over the years.

then how is it that an entire new generation of "few bad apples" have continued the tradition?

it makes your argument very hard to believe since it spans decades and generations.

ATVers run into much the same problem with the "few bad apples" but not that spans generations.

every group has its badseeds. the nature of rainbow gatherings alows for anyone to come and reak havvock on the rainbows and the town/locals. i asume you are refering to fast eddie and his crew of rejects they are a bunch of old drunks that have been around since the 60's and are refferd to as the a-crew.they have been causing trouble at greatful dead concerts and rainbow gatherings for decades stealing, beating people up and dosing them. this guy is like keith richards i tell ya. i have no idea how he's alive he's been wearing the same cloths for about 30 years.he recruits lots of young lost souls also.
