Ive heard of people taking off their silencer. I took it off on my z400 and it increased acc. a lil. Would it be good to run it like this w/o the silencer i mean their aint much the silencer does, but im afraid ill be running lean or something. |

anything your do to increase flow in or out will require increased jetting to avoid the lean conditions. most quads come from the factory already lean. I am running the JET4POWER system on my YFZ450 so knowing where I am is as easy a reading the meter |

So would it still be ok to run it without the silencer? make a run at WOT, turn the bike off and read the spark plug if it is white or the header is glowing then you are way to lean. |

Start with a new plug then run wide open thru the gears turn around and run wide open back, then pull your plug to check color.  White=lean, tan=good, brown/black=rich |

You will want alittle back pressure. I dont recommend running an open header. |

So in order to ride it like i would have to jet it correct? to what size would be good? i dont plan on doin anything else cause i dont really race that much. im mostly trails. just like how the bike sounds like that w/o having to spend money on an exhaust. |

Spend the money on an exhaust that was engineered to do what you want without compromising your engine. I can guarantee you that a holed piston will cost more than $250 that a good pipe would cost you. JMHO. Take out the spark arrestor from your stock pipe & it will sound better or louder like you want & no problems with jetting. |

i think imma go with the HMF slip-on. on ebay it was for like $269 with a jet kit and filter.
Would the gains be very noticable?

Get Curtis Sparks if you have or plan to have some serious motor mods. If not then go with the W. B. E-series. It is hands down the second best pipe for the Z400. I've seen it in action and it produces huge power. |

I was lucky to find a like new White Bros E-Series from a friend of "da mtg man's" on this site  for sale & he hooked me up for $140 cash & it looks like new. To answer your question, YES you will see & feel a difference. I did & I love it!!! |
