Does anyone know if it's safe to put 100 octane racing fuel in an ATV?

Are there any performance advantages of using this fuel?

Yea you can run it! Not a whole lot of advantages unless you've got a high comp. piston other than it most of it burns a lot cleaner than pump gas and can help keep the engine cooler.

Race fuel is a waste of money in a stock engine. It won't burn it completely. It doesn't get hot enough. If you put race fuel in a stock engine it might loose power. Just use premium pump gas. I don't know if you know what the octane rating is but the higher the octane the high the flash point. Which means you need more heat to burn the fuel. Compression creates heat and so does an aftermarket performance ignition. If you have that you need race fuel. If not there isn't any advantage to using it.

race fuel can give you better throttle response and cooler running temps.. even on a stock engine...
Best thing you can do is do go and get a couple gallons , drain your tank, put the race gas in and see for yourself..

LMFAO!!!!!!!!....race fuel in a stock engine is a waste of money, stick to pump gas and enjoy it. 450R hit the nail on the head. You will get power loss from running higher octane than pump gas on a stock motor....if you THINK you getting more performance, then it is psychological...you can run better fuel with the same octane rating, and VP would help you out with that. They have a website.

the misconception of race fuel......I absolutely love this topic.....it gives me great pleasure to read all the BS about how race fuel gave me this and that, when all it really gave you was a misconception....RACE GAS SUCKS.....use pump gas UNLESS YOU NEED RACE GAS...

well i have 200 octane fuel...yeap i said 200... man that stuff rips!! but it smells like a wet fart..

Ok true story. both my brother and i have eton 70's for our kids.
his on vp 110 runs 20 mph on GPS and on my boys of a mix of 93 and 97 runs 28MPH..

I have a Honda Foreman would it be okay to run the most expensive gas from a gas station? I heard it would make it run rich and then i also heard it would run lean... $:-\$

Yes running the best pump gas is good for you quad.

with 93 my yfz always ran hot at the track. after a 15 min moto the fan would stay on a long while. started using 110 about 1.5 yrs ago, worth every dollar as my bike runs cooler and throttle is more responsive. there are always going to be folks telling you it is a waste of money,it sucks,you don'y need it, etcc... those are their OPINIONS. try it. what's $10 of YOUR money anyway. you be your own judge. if not you will be just like everybody else, THINK they know everything. in dirtwheels july 2005 page 61,matt smileys predator 500 uses 100 octane,ON A STOCK ENGINE. must be a waste for him too, or is it?

In general, motors have what is known as an octane ceiling.
If you surpass a motors octane ceiling then, yes, you would
be wasting your money.

Also, the chemical makeup of some high octane race fuel
does change burn properties, specific weight etc. That can
throw your jetting off, decrease performance etc. And at the
very least, waste your money.

If you want to use race gas with a stock motor, use it in con-
junction with the best pump gas. It will stabilize your octane
rating. Race gas tends to hold its octane better than regular
gas. As gas sits around it loses its octane rating. This only
matters if you do not use all your gas for each ride and have
to store what's left over for the next time you go out.

Start conservatively(20% - 1 gallon race/4 gallons Super Unl.)
and work your way up and see if you notice a difference along
the way. This is also dependant upon what type of race fuel
you start with.
