Neighbor wants to get rid of Pit....

Any suggestion...  My neighbor has a pit bull female.  She's a good dog w/kids and all, just aint that good when it comes to other dogs.  Would hate to see some nit-wit get a hold of her, and just make her worse.  I heard in some parts of the Country there are Pit-Bull Rescues, are there any around here....  She's the mommy to my pup....  (pit-Beagal mix...)
