Brake pedal(rear) froze

My brake pedal pretty much froze up the other day.  I suck with brakes, had to have the caliper piston or whatever repaired by dealership.  It will go down but won't come back up.  Very hard to push down even.  I have had like 4 hours of use since the repair the dealership did. (2 mo. though) Just can't get it to be freed up.  Any idea what this could be attributed to or how to fix it? Just wanna ride.

Go buy some disk brake cleaner and spray the caliper & rotor with it then spray some WD-40 on the actual lever's joint... It might help.

Sound like a corrosion problem.....

ok here it goes:

first you have to determine if its a hydraulic or mechanical problem.
if the lever is not returning to the depressed position then eihter the piston inside the master is locking up or the mechanism is jamming. you would have to disassemble the lever from the master and see if the rear brakes loosen up. if it does then the problem is in the pedal mechanism. if it doesnt then its probably the piston in the master. loosen either the bleeder valve or the rear brake hose to relieve hydraulic pressure to the caliper. if it frees then your masters getting jammed. if you loosen the rear hose and the rear brakes continue to be locked, then its the caliper.

Tried loosening the rear brake hose as well as a little lube where the levers joint is.  All it did was made it to wear I could actually move it up and down with a little less strain.  Still nowhere near what it should be, no recoil at all.  I have put about 3 hours of ride time on it since I had the shop rebuild the caliper.Been trying to get the rear brakes fixed since Dec. through the dealership.   They probably had it right the first time but then placed the hose against my exhaust and it burnt right through.   With my 3 hours of ride time I would assume that this isn't just from normal use right?

if you loosened the rear hose to relieve pressure and the brake pedal still doesnt move then the piston inside the master is jammed. you can probably find a relatively cheap one on ebay.(master cylinder)

ps. and your gonna need to re-route your brake line away from the exhaust.

Thanks Gery.    I took it back to the dealership since what you described is what I paid them to replace not even a month ago.  The mechanic walked out when I was turning it in, asked me whats up. I explained to him and he automatically attributed it to rust.  Whatever, as long as theres not a charge and it's fixed promptly I don't care.  I appreciate the assistance.
