1  General / Open Discussion / Re: For the divorced parents out there..... on: January 19, 2007, 08:35:17 PM
It's probably already been said before this post but you can only go by what the divorce settlement stipulates for visitation.  Any other arrangements/agreements between you and the ex will not hold up in court.  If it becomes a legal battle, the original visitation agreement will prevail unless there are extraodinary circumstances to justify otherwise.  I've been in situations where I was given extra visitation through mutual agreement and then had the tables turn to deny visitation during what was stipulated as my time.  My attorney was aggressive as a pitbull with rabies and loves the challenge when that happens so it was squashed immediately.  Extra visitation in the past is not considered when it comes to what is in the legal agreement.  It is in the best interest of all to try and maintain a reasonable relationship with the ex but, typically, that tends to be difficult when you are involved with a significant other or your ex perceives that your children are really enjoying their time with you...the latter in my case anyway.  I don't know the details of your divorce but I have seen where the one of wrongdoing is very protective and insecure with the parent/child relationship out of guilt.

I've seen this action coming for a while.  Airboats and four wheelers....everything I do for fun is under attack these days and it is all a result (in part) of a few that don't get it.  It's easy to blame everyone else but the biggest weakness comes from our own ranks.  Angry

In my line of work, you cannot get power hooked up to a building or trailer without a final C/O or Final Inspection conducted by the county.  Electric companies will not hook up power without it.  I am assuming the trailer has power?  Just my $.02.

That was around 3PM in the afternoon with no soaper.  I've spent countless hours and more $$$ than I should have experimenting with my engine and hull setup.  The biggest factor was properly building a Cadillac engine for a 2:1 reduction.  The Cadillac has tons of torque at low rpms which allow alot of pitch to be put in the prop, especially when reducted.

Airboats are like ATV's....everyone has an idea of which one is better.  My prop certainly doesn't break the sound barrier as it is only spinning 2100rpm at wide open throttle.  I won't brag about what it can do but the video (link below) speaks for itself.

A properly set up boat with adequate power does not have to be loud.

GTO is one of many airboat manufacturers in Florida.

Yeah and there wasn't any debris left from Valujet flight 592 that crashed in the Everglades either.   Do you think that was a missile too?

The best site to visit for airboat information is www.southernairboat.com.  Be sure to check out my pics in the member gallery section under jdotson.  I run a 15' Alumitech with a 507ci Cadillac 2:1 gear reduction.

A lot can be learned by the airboater's approach to dealing with legislators, complaints, and preservation of the priviledge to ride.  Airboats, for the most part, are not discriminated against in rivers and lakes with the exception of a few.  Recently the FWC has reinterpreted the muffling rule that requires all airboats to have "automotive style mufflers" by July 2006.  Some counties have required mufflers for several years now.

Karma....It can be a b#$ch!!! Toast

DENVER - A man hanged himself in an airplane lavatory days after being arrested for allegedly driving his new car through a dealership's showroom and setting a nearly $1 million fire, authorities said Thursday.

A United Airlines flight from Washington, D.C., to Los Angeles was diverted to Denver after Gerald Georgettis' body was found. The Denver medical examiner ruled the death a suicide.

Denver police Detective Virginia Lopez said no other passengers were ever in danger.

In Miami, Georgettis, 56, was accused of driving his new Ford Escape through the Metro Ford dealership's showroom on Saturday before pouring gasoline on it and lighting it. Miami-Dade County police have said he was upset about how much he paid for his car.

Fire officials said the blaze burned about a dozen cars, including a $150,000 limited-edition 2006 Ford GT.

Georgettis was charged with arson and felony criminal mischief and released Sunday on $1,500 bond.

Boomer,

It doesn't take going to Croom's to find those kind of hills, you can find them throughout the state.  I do prefer Tellico outside of Murphy, NC when it comes to "BALLS" as it adds  a pucker factor too.  As far as the trail boss goes, I seriously doubt any dealer or manufacturer will stand behind the damage as you have posted.

I'm surprised these bikes survived the mountain rolls.   Dunno  Florida mountains are among the most treacherous!

This isn't the first time something like this has happened at ONF.  Back in the 90's a brother and sister were reuniting/camping during a college break when they were kidnapped and tied up.  The brother was beaten to death and the sister was repeatedly raped over several days and left to die.  She managed to escape eventually.  I personally knew those victims and their dad was one of my middle school teacher in the early 80's.

You think it's bad for ATV's....try running an airboat these days!  Given all the hassles of airboating and ATV'ing I have pretty much given up trying to appease anyone but myself. Angry
14  General / Where to Ride? / Re: North Carolina Riding on: July 29, 2005, 10:49:33 AM
I just got back from a week long trip to North Georgia (Blairsville) and spent three days at Tellico located right outside of Murphy NC.  There is some extreme riding up there and definately worth the trip.  I'm planning on going again next year!
