Ok Everyone!!!! Listen up!!!
The weekend of Jan. 12th there WILL BE a Quad Scramble in Myakka City at the Clay Gully Rd. property. It is not a Hare Scramble and it is for points. It it being hosted by SADRA, and SAQRA. We need rider support here guys, we need to get the numbers back up so we don't go in the negative on this one....
We spent the weekend out at the property, and we were very excited to see that a couple of areas of the property that we were not previously able to use due to water will be usable provided we don't get any more rain. Also, while we were scouting, we found some more uncharted territory, and we figure we can come up with about 6.5 miles, with 85% of it being fresh new trail. I am confident that as we get going we will be able to increase the mileage a little. There are some areas we haven't been before, and other areas that we used last year that has healed up so well we didn't realize at first that we had gone that way before. Because of the creek that runs through the property, there are some things (like some of the small water crossings) that we can't help but use each time, but this track is going to be a lot of fun!!! We are using the creek jump again, but not the big bridge, that will be a pedestrian bridge to the spectator area we have planned. We are also building a new bridge, but the details won't be revealed. All I will say is, it's something you definitely have not seen at any FTR event. Maybe after Christmas I'll post some pictures of our progress!!! So to answer the burning question... No, the track will not be the same that you have raced before at Myakka, but never has Myakka been anything but FUN!!! Bring a friend!!!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I just finished with an Executive Committee Teleconference, and RCDR's Quad Scramble has been rescheduled for October 27th. I sent Dan an email, and I'm sure he will update the schedule and flyer soon.
I wanted to get this out to everyone as soon as possible, so that you are all able to prepare. We realize that this schedule change will cause 3 back to back weekends of races, however, we felt that it was in the best interest of the club, and the riders to reschedule as quickly as possible. As you know, RCDR is ready to "Rock and Roll" with their event, and we don't want to have to put them on hold for too long. I hope that everyone will understand and do their very best to make it to all of these events. Thank you River City, for being so eager to host this race. We all appreciate it!!
Amanda.

For all of you that were at the HS in Myakka....
The big water crossing is gone, the 2 crossings that we went through in the back section are still there, the front water crossing between the start and the gas stop is still there, but all three of those crossings have filled in some with sand. The one that Fred was talking about where some quads got stuck where I was at filled in some when the landowner graded out the field. As Randy said, we were able to bypass quite a bit, but with only one weekend, there were some places we had to reuse. You guys won't be disappointed, I promise!!! See you there!!!

That's ok Fred, Originally I was pulling people out with a tow strap, but when our Quads get that suction effect, it was more than my little strap could take- it snapped. Well, the next best thing was to do it by hand. Yeah, I was pretty muddy, and trust me, you weren't the first to roost me, and certainly not the last!!! It was so much fun!!!

Hey Everyone, I just want you all to know that my family and I are members of SADRA, the club that is putting on the next QS in Myakka. As we speak, the trail is being reclaimed, and while y'all are stuffin' your bellies with Turkey and all the trimmings we'll be out at the property bustin' butt to make sure that the track is in the best of shape!! We intend to re-route whatever we have to, and both of the afternoon classes will be running the "Sunday" course as well as the general track that was run for the HS (with necessary modifications of course). So there will be new stuff, I promise!! If you are a seasoned racer, or you want to come out and try it for the first time, DO IT!!! You won't be sorry!!! There will be pretty cool t-shirts too!!! See Y'all there!!!!

Here is a question I have that I was wondering if anyone can give advice on that is not my boyfriend! Any tips as far as loading the back of the truck using ramps vs pulling the trailer. They truely scare the heck out of me! I have visions of me going through the back windshield or falling off the ramp!
Also, it is a good idea to load in the grass if you don't have straps on your ramps. You wouldn't want a tire to grab too well and spit the ramp out from under you on slippery concrete. I also try to look for uneven ground so I can get the truck lower than the ramps. That reduces the incline.

Yes, we are FTR members that are getting this thing going. And yes, it would be great if within the club we could form a competition committee, to help plan and host a sanction for a Quad Scramble. FTR topics will be discussed at meetings because FTR is currently the biggest thing going for Quad riders in the State of Florida.
Of course we will be hanging out, that is what a club is all about.
OBVIOUSLY, judging from the amount of people who are interested and have responded to this, there is a major need for something like this in our community. Our sport is growing by leaps and bounds, while public riding areas are diminishing just as rapidly. Environmentalist groups that are hard at work trying to wipe us out, if you've noticed, are presenting themselves as a group, not individuals. That is something we need working for us, a VOICE, and right now, we don't have one.
And enough about politics, wouldn't it be great to sit around and hang out with some new people who share the same interests as you? Besides, your buddies have heard you tell the same stories more times than they'd like to count. We all know "Quad stories" are like "fish stories" the jumps get higher and the mud holes get deeper just as the fish get bigger. Let's get together and tell our stories to some newly made friends and do some riding. I know I'm looking forward to it!! These are some of the many things I had planned to discuss at the meeting, but I thought I'd share with you that our intentions are not at all limited to FTR, to prevent any misunderstandings. Let's have some FUN!!
