General / Racing Scene / Re: Your Help is Needed

Hello, We will be out of town May 23rd for Memorial Day weekend, therefore will not make the Jasper race. I would like to offer any help needed with keeping the racing closer to the scheduled times. We have brought many specatators up to watch, and have a few people interested in racing, however, when you arrive at the track and expect to start practice at 4:00 (after driving 2 hours to get there) and do not get on the track until 7:00 or 8:00 it is very discouraging. I am hesitant to invite anyone else due to the fact that more times than not they will be sitting around waiting for hours. We did not get home until 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning. We could bring alot more people in to spend money, specatators and racers alike, if the racing schedule was closer to what is advertised. We love to race but are not nearly as excited as we were for the fact that "race day" has turned out to be an all nighter. If you consider the actual time you have on the track compared to the money you spend and the actual time you sit around waiting, it is discouraging. When I finally got on the track for the feature it was 11:30 p.m, Squeezer's was later than that. Please don't get me wrong, we greatly appreciate having a place to race and the crew at Thunderbowl does an outstanding job. I am willing to help anyway needed to improve this area. Does the track need more people there earlier to get ready? Let us know, we are willing to help. I know that we are not the only ones that feel this way, every time there is such a long delay everyone in the pits are complaining. Also, after waiting all day to race, when the races were over the lights were turned off immediately and we had to load in the dark, is there anyway ya'll can leave some lighting on for a few minutes? Alot of people travel a long distance to race and are still driving long after you guys are fast asleep. lol Again, thanks for all your efforts and for providing a facility for racing. Candi

Squeezer is home now and doing well. Bed rest to him means building a small block chevy for his Corvette which he worked on all day today (only with his right arm though LOL). He is very tough and can't wait to get back on the track. His lung is almost back to full capacity, of course the broken collar bone, six broken ribs and fractured shoulder blade hurt real bad but he is managing. I would like to thank everyone that was considerate enough to call and offer help and all the great e-mails. It is nice to know that people pull together when needed. Again thanks to everyone especially to you Ward!! We will see you all soon on the track!! Candi

Hey everyone, I just bought a 1999 YZF400 Yamaha I want to convert into a flat track. I am in need of a 19" front rim preferably a spool. Not worried about the spacers or axle. If anyone has one sittin around or knows where I can get one I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Squeezer

I would prefer 2 heats and one main. Seat time is great. MORE FUN FOR THE MON!!! I think your track is great, I really enjoy racing there. Recently I went to Ohio, my friends at Kings Custom in Batavia have a fleet of flat track bikes and they will be down for bike week to race, I gave them your number. Also, my friend Charlie mentioned the Thunderbowl and his passion for dirt track racing along with information on the track in Full Throttle Magazine in the November issue. He put a pic of the dude from Daytona riding the Rotax. When the "new" flyer comes out please e-mail me one and I will make copies and distribute them around town at bike shops, functions etc. My email is candisqueeze@comcast.net

Hello, Squeezer and I will be there. Squeeze had some problems with his bike at Auburndale but I think he's got it worked out. Squeezer would like to race the TT track as well but not going to be able to this week, he did not get the tires for his Yamaha 450 yet. Anyway, we will see everyone Saturday!!!! Candi & Squeeze

We had a great time. I had my first "crash", but it wasn't too bad, just some bruising, went riding all day today. The folks at Auburndale are very friendly and seem motivated to make this track work!! Rich seems to be into racer input so if anyone has suggestions, pass them on. If we get enough people to commit to racing there he will open the track every other weekend with a points race once a month. After the end of November we can race in the evening there but for now it will be morning races. We just appreciate having a place to race at all!!! If you are interested in participating in a series at Auburndale, please contact Rich Parsons @ 863-662-8259 or post your info so they can start preparing a schedule, advertising, staff etc. Candi & Squeezer

Hello, Before you advertise with Born to Ride let Squeezer know, he is good friends with Ron Gilletti, we actually spoke with Ron a few months ago about coming out and filming some footage of the races and showing on the Born To Ride TV show, this still may be possible. We also are working on an article to print in Full Throttle Magazine. What about the MX magazines I see at Cycle Gear and RTM in Tampa? I will pick one up next time I go so Brady can have the info to call. Candi

This is just my opinion. I feel like we need more exposure for sure. We also like the idea of racing at different tracks, alot of us live in other areas and it is nice to not have to drive so far some of the time. Thats all folks!!! Candi & Squeezer

P.S. Thanks for everything Brady, we enjoy your track and appreciate all the hard work you put into it. If we can ever do anything to help, please, let us know.

Hello, I raced last night at the Thunderbowl and it was so much fun. I have not been on a dirt bike in 30 years, I am now 40 years old and was not sure if I could do this or not. There were only two of us racing, but at least I get to tell everyone I came in 2nd. lol Anyway, we do need more women out there to compete. It is a good feeling to be able to race, it builds self confidence, and is much more fun than just watching. I hope to see more ladies come out!! Candi

Well, This makes two races in a row there that were cancelled at Auburndale. , My husband and I did not get the e-mail and went to the track at 8:30 this morning after only a few hours sleep. I planned on helping Shawn with the event and we invited about 15 spectators (friends), Full Throttle Magazine to run an article in next months magazine, and Born-to-Ride T.V. was also showing up. Well, needless to say we had alot of phone calls to make. By the way, the e-mail says cancelled due to rain, we were told at the track it was cancelled because the track didn't get grated. We have offered to volunteer our time to make this work and had we of know my husband could have grated the track. Well, I can't promise we will be nearly as excited about another supposed race at Auburndale as we were the last two but we would probaly show up to race. Our phone number is 813-986-0715 and once again we are willing to help with any flat track racing event. We would like to see flat track racing succeed here, but with cancelled races it is very discouraging. Candi & Squeezer P.S.The track was dry and needed water from what I could see.
