ok i am 18 years old i live in salt springs florida. i am a big hunter. but do to a back injury am not able to walk the trails like i could last year.


heres a map of where i am.


i know i can ride to the north of me as long as i am across 316.

but my hunt area is to the south/south west of me. seeing that i cant walk (for anything over a few 100 yards  i was wanting to use my quad.

i have seen many hunters off loading there quads on the side of 314/88/and 40 and riding off into the woods i have not heard of anyone being fined or anything.

all small game (rabbits/squirrels etc etc  is open season year round correct? there for i can hunt for small game ytear round in the onf  as long as i have a vest a valid license and no more than a 5 shot clip?

could some one please measure how wide a 300ex or 250r swingarm is where it mounts to the frame.

im building a hybrid and would like to get the measurment without buying the swingarm.


also if need to make custom swingarm mounts its basically a plate with a whole with a short piece of tubing on each side correct.

ya this is f3rr3ts son you would be better off getting a bigger bike unlike me i was stubborn and put all the above into my bike and some other engine work and just the engine has cost me about 1200.

that yet leaves my suspension and tires by the time im done plus the price of my quad ill be at about 8500.

one thing to keep in mind is the 250ex will not excede 60 mph do to not being able to change gear ratios.

but if your hard on about builden your 250 and want to go faster than 60 let me know i have rear ring and pinion gears being made in cad. which should bump are speed are speed up to about 75mph

as i said he probably wont be able to get started till january hes struggling to get works shocks all around.

hes doesnt know how the 400 ex shocks or the 450r will perform.

Hello gentleman my son has been working on his honda 250ex for awhile now and should have it done by January. We would like to know what is involved in getting him started in flattrack. do we just show up there the first of the season?.

a little run down of his bike.

its a 2002 shaft driven honda 250ex (that he has put to much money in)

the engine is currently being built stock the motor is 229cc he is having powroll big bore kit installed (249cc) cam and new rod, head ported and polished, and the head shaved 20 thousandths. and a 300ex carb.

also herrman racing +2 a-arms and some dg nerfs that his uncle got him.


here comes are main issue being a shaft driven quad you can not change the gear ratios. this bike max no matter how much engine work will go 60. at the ocala track are these speeds exceded if so he has found a guy that will machine a new pinion gear with 2 more teeth which should let him use all his motor.

suspension will be from a 450r or 400ex he has not decided yet

also some one told me that southrn flat track league does not allow hiper wheels if not hes out 700.


also what tires do yall recommend he needs at least a 20 inch rear
