1  General / Tech Corner / Brake Pads- OEM vs. Others on: September 25, 2007, 12:06:58 PM
Brake Pad Question.
I am wanting to replace my brake pads, 3 sets 2 front and 1 rear, I can replace them for $90 dollars from the OEM (orginal equipment manufacture)or I have found another full set for $45. Has anyone had any experience with replacing brakes with Sintered Metal Brake Pads.
Yea they may be cheaper but will i be replacing them again in a year?

According to the manufacture of Sintered Metal Brake Pads- these brake pads are designed to withstand highly abrasive conditions. You will get Maximum performance along with great durability. They are perfect for all types of off-road riding. Sintered metal cuts through the film of water that forms on brake disks in wet conditions for exceptional wet weather performance and will perform with little or no brake fade.

I agree Telstar the yard and Demon the house.
I had problems with the ticks earlier this year and it works.  Frontline makes a spray that will help eliminate existing flea and tick infestations on the dog, I had to buy it on-line.

On the Northside you will find the Caryville Flats is a GREAT view. It was a full day of riding and make sure to bring extra gas.
There is a message board also that may help with questions.

Nice place but as stated very rocky and extreme trails are more work than fun, winching, on/off bike etc.. It was enjoyable watching the rock crawling vehicles also.

17  General / Tech Corner / Drive Clutch on: October 31, 2006, 12:15:10 PM
I have a 2001 Polaris with 5000+ miles on it and it needs a new drive clutch. Does anyone now were there is a bone yard or a good place for used parts vs. paying top dollar for a new one.

18  General / Tech Corner / Re: ATV Fuel Economy on: October 26, 2006, 09:37:13 AM
To answer the why is because, at times we/I have ridden 40-50 miles a day and not having to worry about carrying extra gas is a plus. I noticed that some of the manufactures are turning out smaller tanks and with the newer machines being EFI, not sure if that’s better gas economy or not. (of course a lot is how the machine is driven and riding conditions) There has been 3-4 times I have returned to the trailer with the gas gauge blinking, as accurate as they are. I currently have a sportsman 600 and enjoy the challenges of mud holes and charting new legal paths. Also I make 1-2 trips a year out of state and this year at Coal Creek I ran dry at 59 miles, mostly of hard packed ground. If I knew I could do this many miles every time gas economy would not be a concern, but in Florida sugar sand, mud, etc.. I normally get about 12 miles a gallon. This is just something I was curious about more than a serious concern. Just for the record I have out gassed a Kawasaki, but been pushed by a Honda.

Rico- just going out on limb, you must have been a straight A student. Thank you for your time and effort.

Anyone know where I can find fuel economy data, specifically for the larger(500cc and up) 4x4 ATV’s. Polaris, Honda, Suzuki etc…
Thanks!

Also I just place my used synthetic oil on Ebay, whos going to be the first bidder?

23  General / Photo Gallery & Videos / Re: Survived Coal Creek OHV on: June 05, 2006, 10:11:49 AM
We did see people riding two on one bike, but I am not certain about Coal Creek allowing it. My thoughts are you could do it with a 4x4 utility machine and avoiding the difficult trails. Even with this some areas would be a challenge.
Not sure if this is the “Officials Rules”, but this does not refer to any double riding.

I just visited Coal Creek, 72,000 acres of off road fun, located in Oliver Springs, Tennessee. Folks were camping at the trailhead without hookups and there is a campgroud 2 miles away.
You cannot go wrong at the Hatfield-McCoy trails either.

My father and my wives brother traveled ~12 hours in each direction to get there just so we could ride for four days. We stayed at a local hotel and had a 20-minute commute to the trailhead. Most trails are marked easy, moderate, difficult or extreme and we rode 160 miles in the four days with 60 of those coming in one day. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to plan an ATV trip.
