1  General / Group Rides & Events / Re: Holey Land Cleanup = FUTILE !!!!!!!! on: March 13, 2007, 09:36:13 AM
i think there is a few main issues that can be worked out fairly easy. 1st is the trash. FWC or someone needs to get trash cans/dumpsters out there and dumped on a regular basis. when you go to the beach there are t-cans, when you go to a park there a t-cans. Why not out there? 2nd rider safety. The flags are a great idea to be seen. i think they need to enforce a helmet law also regardless of what type of atv you ride. 3rd would be speed and reckless riding in parking areas. Just like seminole , croom etc. You can't go over like 5 mph in those areas and you sure can't be doing any wheelies there. last but not least , they should mandate every atv be registered/title. This you deter some theft as well as generate money to fund atv riding in florida. 4th as far as alcohol I think they should start by prohibiting glass containers. just my .02 cents.
2  General / Group Rides & Events / Re: Holeylands Sunday, March 11 on: March 13, 2007, 08:52:48 AM
I was there sunday. I thought it was pretty dry for holylands standards. I rode my yfz 450 and had a blast. Except that fact I did flip once:L and my stupid flag kept falling off. Bang Head I was going slow and hit some mud over the bars i went, kinda funny. I rode the south side of the levy. If anyone on a sport quad is thinking about going i would say -GO!!. Just stay on the south side and stick to the main trails. If you do see any mud ride around EVEN IF IT LOOKS DRY, but yes some small patches you can go right over it with speed. Rolling on the Floor Laughing oh ya make sure you bring a drink with you out riding if you can. It gets hot out there.

alright... there isnt really any adress for the place so u jus have to find the right road which is pretty easy...  first u should go to google maps or some thing to get directions to get to 7-14 once u get there u have to turn a left on fox brown or right, depending on which side ur coming from.  then you have to follow fox brown and cross two sets of RR tracks after you go past those you jus keep following fox brown for a few more miles untill you see a road called silver fox.  turn right on that road and go down it for exactly 2 miles there is a dirt road turn on that, and if u cant find it jus roll down your windows and listen for bikes.  those are the best directions i can give because like i said b4, there is no adress.. but its pretty easy to find.
it's in the middle of a orange grove!! I've been there before, it's a pretty cool track. The right at the dirt road has a canker was at it. you drive under it to get to the track. Its just 2x4's and some pvc. it's a good reference point.. Cool oh ya and it is deffinetly not a beginner track.

The police are only doing their jobs, I can appreciate this. Funny thing is, that thousands of acres of woods around cape coral are being leveled as we speek to build more houses, yet my little ATV is causing enough destruction that we have to dedicate tax payer money to pay these guys to ride their ATV's where we can't and write us tickets. Makes perfect sense. By the way, I have never seen one of these guys actually in the woods, not have I ever gotten a ticket.
I use to live in cape coral off of chiquita and cc pkwy behind publix. You can ride out off burnt store rd I believe and 82 in leigh high

prnstar123, When I say "monitor," it means someone is reading the forum, but not responding or registered on the site. They are just monitoring it. But I can assure you, they are taking notes. Not everyone shares the same view of ATVs as you do. Opponents of ATVs read this forum all the time. All the bashing and open discussion of unlawful activities is ammunition for them. As for "busting" riders, I don't need this site to do that. They do it to themselves by riding on the roadways, noise, trespassing, destruction of property and littering. I'm only here to help everyone involved by providing facts concerning enforcement, promote safe riding and minimize "black eyes" for the sport.

thank you, Now I have a better perspective on the situation. Cool

prnstar123, If you've been reading my posts, I think it's clear I'm not trying to "bust" anyone, just inform. I think most riders on this site appreciate an open line of communication with those that do the enforcement. Yes, 80% of my patrol time is on an ATV. Basically, it takes an ATV to enforce ATV laws and ordinances. By keeping riders informed, it helps prevent "black eyes" for the sport, helps prevent the loss of riding areas, and makes my job a little easier.

I agree with you on the "open lines of communication" I actually asked you on another thread where to legally ride in palm beach. You also  said " We, along with Evironmentalists, Conservationists and the general public monitor a number of ATV and Off-Road websites. As for "secret" hiding places, we find most of them through citizen complaints , not the websites. Just use a little common sense on what you post on public forums. " What would be your definition of MONITORING websites if it isn't to bust riders/riding areas?

The websites are a great tool for keeping everyone informed and organizing to secure properties for ATV/Off-Road use.
So basicly what your saying is you like your job so much you that even when your off the clock and home on your leisure time your still trying to bust people? Lips Sealed Huh Remember you told us you ride an ATV out in the firld all day..

prnstr:

You pick the weekend.

We may have you spring for the steaks or the frosty cold beverages.

Let me know!

SIDE NOTE TO ALL WHO READ:  I grew up riding in NJ where there are a ton of places to ride believe it or not. But here in FL there seem to be a limited amount of places to ride legally.
I extend this offer to all because for the most part, everyone I've ever met while riding, has been cool. I like to turn people on to new spots to ride, and I think that should be a common bond among ATVers.

Peace out!
V

Sounds like a plan!!!! Grin I'm Available ANY weekend for this..

Thanks for understanding Wink. I try to keep everyone informed and provide a little guidance in the name of the sport and public safety. As for personal riding, like most of you, I grew up riding. I went from a go-cart at 10yrs old to racing motocross in high school. I sometimes ride a Yamaha TTR 250 in my spare time when I have any. I usually spend 30-40hrs a week patrolling on my work ATV, which is Polaris Sportsman 500. No, it's not stock......I sold my ATV, because riding one all week for work is more than enough ride time for me. Unfortunately, it's not "fun" riding when we patrol. We ride very conservatively, as we are in the public eye and set an example.
Can you point us in the right direction on area we can ride without any problems? Any info would be great for everyone. Grin thanks

Hey yall, My brother and I and planning on attending this ride, it will be our first ride with the group. We have stayed at elite before, do our atvs have to be trucked out of the campground for the ride and park somewhere else or do we ride from the camground to the forest? Any info would be great, also, what do people do for extra fuel or are the gas stations on the trail or will my 5gal tank be enough for the day? We are new to the whole atv group ride scene so we arent sure what to expect, we appreciate any help and info to the newbies. bigscrb15@aol.com aim: bigscrb15
No you are NOT allowed to ride from elite campgrounds. they must be trailored out .  And there deff. not gas stations on the trails that are legal to ride on.

I hate the rain. [smiley=banghead.gif]It ruined my camping trip. [smiley=angry2.gif]We still rode on thur. from hog valley to rodman dam in the pouring rain. We were supposed to go to big scrub yesterday but someone left the flood gates open still. Hope next time the rain will cooperate. [smiley=dunno.gif]

who won the 250 class?
chad reed, it was partly due to carmichael and stewart crashing in seperate incidents. It was great to see the 3 of them on the track battling.  When they were introducing everyone at the begining was really cool. Great entertainment Grin
