I think it's easier to hand the baby it's bottle when the seat is facing forward. Or grab another beer when baby is at home.

I stopped in Lakeport (near L-Cross) yesterday for some fuel and spotted this 2-stroke dirt bike with a baby seat ratchet strapped to it. Just had to share.

Jim,
Thanks for the reply and offer but I already went by the time I read your post. I had the maps and the trails were well marked so I had no problems.
5  General / Where to Ride? / My ONF review on: February 02, 2007, 04:59:43 PM
Just went to ONF for the first time since the trail system was instituted and thought I'd give my two cents. If your kidneys and back can survive the whoops you can do most of the Northern area in one to two days. I logged 100 miles in two days up there. The trails offer no challenges as far as skill goes but you do get to see alot of the forest. We only saw a handfull of people in the three days we were there. The Delancy loops (purple) are the funnest and least whooped out. Don't waste your time with wandering wiregrass. The one cool sink area we passed (near Longleaf, yellow) had lots of trails in it but was marked no riding. No more swinging by the 88 store. I love having to stay on a marked trail while the whole area next to it is clear cut. I thought the trails were pretty well marked and you don't really need a GPS. The most fun I have had in Ocala was at a construction area with rock piles and nice trails across the street near cr301. I don't know if that was or is legal. If they do groom the trails and put in some areas with manmade obstacles I think it will be alot better. Right now I think Croom is better and is a little closer to my house. I have all my tracks if you want to load them in your garmin and you have mapsourse give me an email. BTW I ride a Vinson 500 manual.

PS: Elite is selling all the cabins as condos for a mere 125k you can own the smallest one furthest from the lake.

Anybody ever replace these seals? Do you need to remove the side case?
9  General / Where to Ride? / GPS Tracks for ONF trails on: January 05, 2007, 03:29:28 PM
I am going to Ocala in a month to ride for a weekend. We will be staying at Elite Resorts near Lake Kerr. Any suggestions on routes to take or where to park for a nice day (25-45 miles) ride in a big loop through the forest. Better yet does anyone have any GPS tracks from their Garmin to share of a ride they enjoyed. I got some tracks from someone a while ago but I'm not sure they are legal anymore.

My father in law has two 1995 XP's in good condition with trailer for sale - both ready for the water.  I think he wants around 4000. call 772 263 1430

I have a ram mount made for a Garmin etrex legend and it is great.
12  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Official Croom - Google Earth Map Thread on: November 24, 2005, 11:12:57 AM
Hey I plugged all the coordinates into Mapsource and saved it. If you have a garmin GPS and Mapsourse this will save you alot of work. PM me and I will get it to you. Thanks Mr. Bones. I am going to Croom for the first time in 10 years and this is going to be nice to have.
13  General / Open Discussion / Re: Help buying a moderately priced GPS on: October 14, 2005, 08:09:11 AM
I have and etrex legend with topo and a ram mount. I love it. It is the finest, cheapest mapping unit out there. I got a few tracks from a nice guy on this forum in the ONF and completed a 60 mile ride without ever getting lost. It was my first time riding in Ocala. This GPS made the trip possible. I found the best price at Walmart.com

16  General / Where to Ride? / Anyone been to Underhills lately? on: July 15, 2005, 03:44:09 PM
I heard it's OK to go out there again. The guy who told me said every weekend is open to riders. Is this true?
17  General / Where to Ride? / Re: River Ranch POA on: July 09, 2005, 08:31:22 AM
I am a hunter and an ATVer. I've been to RR on many occasions and I have no problems with the people out there. I'm fine with the POA rules and fee. I am just worried that other landowners who are not, are going to try to bring them down. As far as RR being a hunting club and not an ATV park - I agree thats what they want to be, but during the off season most people are out there just to ride.
18  General / Where to Ride? / Re: River Ranch POA on: July 08, 2005, 09:24:11 PM
Sorry, I didn't see the other thread. I am actually interested in buying out at river ranch and was doing some reasearch when I came across the article on the net. The last thing I want is to see another area dissapear for ATVing, but I really don't want to be under the control of any POA. What gives the POA authority to enforce rules. I don't fully understand the legalities of quitclaim deeds and POA's.

Read this and share your thoughts.

http://www.sptimes.com/2005/06/05/State/Off_road__off_limits.shtml

I think it is bogus that they are keeping landowners from accessing their own land because they don't pay the $60 a year to be in the redneck club. But might be coming to an end out there.

Anybody out there got a set?
What size on what machine?
Do you like them?

Thinking about a set of 26's for my Vinson.
21  General / Where to Ride? / Re: 30.00 PER PERSON FOR MSG? on: April 21, 2005, 10:26:25 AM
I agree, $30 a head is a rip. I've only been twice, but the last time (DAC weekend) was a nightmare. I think my group stayed for 4 hours and 1 hour was spent entering and exiting. I would have liked to have spent more time but the place was mass confusion. I (and many others) never spend more than a day and $30 is too much for the area you have access to. Some in this tread mentioned the Underhills but I thought that riding there was finished? Lcross is making a fortune and I haven't seen alot of evidence that much is being put back in to this "facility" to improve it. Not that I blame them, the demand for this type of area is huge and there aren't many alternatives. So they are getting it while they can, just not from me anymore.
22  General / Open Discussion / Garmin Mapsource Tip on: January 19, 2005, 01:21:39 PM
I was unimpressed by the fact that you have to run the maps from cd. Its slow and you have to drag out the cd's with you. Here is a solution:

Copy your cd's to your hardrive (I only copied the East CD and I put it in the C:\Garmin directory)

Run regedit and navigate to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Garmin\MapSource\Products

Under that I have 4 entries, labeled 6 through 9. These correspond to
Alaska, Hawaii, West and East US. Each one of them contains 3 keys. Bmap and Tdb will already be on your machine, Loc will point at a subdir of your CD-ROM. Just change that subdir to point at the location of the appropriate subdir of the cd you copied. (In my case the key value would be C:\Garmin\East)

If anyone still needs metro or topo email me.
I also have info on Streets and Trips 2004.
24  General / Open Discussion / Re: GPS - What to buy on: January 18, 2005, 01:00:37 PM
The cheapest mapping unit with memory for uploading maps from mapsource software is the eTrex legend. I just got one and like it very much. I also purchased a RAM handlebar mount with a cradle made just for the eTrex series GPS's.

Are helmets required in ONF? Thanks for the feedback. My friend doesn't own a helmet and was wanting to know if he needed to buy one for this area.
