I plan on going to either Holeylands or the Humps tommoro (SUNDAY).. Whaich one is drier right now? I have been buried at the humps in thick, pastelike mud, ..then again..that has happened at Holeylands also. I have a 4x2..so I want the drier of the two. Any suggestions?

I just got back from a trip to Western PA...To check the area out. I am so sick of Florida..The summer heat, the Traffic, the people not speaking english, the crime, the flat landscape..etc.. I gre up in new England and was able to ride out my back door for days. I found Western PA ( near pittsburgh and suburbs) one of the best riding locations I have seen. I just drove around and ran into so many people riding. I stopped and talked with them.. and they said the trails are endless and many are on private property and the owners don't mind at all (some even made parking spots for the riders). The terrain can be sandy, muddy, forest, trails, coalmines, old rail lines, rivers, cliffs...everything! The only thing ATV owners need is to register thier bike and have insurance (usually about $125 year for liabilty and theft). The other plus is that housing is relativly cheap.... a house that would sell for $450,000 in Ft.Lauderdale would be about $85,000 up there. The pay scale is not the same, but since I own my own business, it does not matter where I live. I just want a place where I can ride anytime (even at night everyone says). The traffic is not bad at all. There is also HUGE amounts of Forst riding within a few hours....even Hatfield McCoy is about 4 hours. There are Lots of mud racing and motocross tracks within minutes. Yes the drawback is the cold winters... But I will be living in Florida for the worst months, and even so.. I am going to buy a country farm and snowmobiling is fun. Just wanted to pass along my experience. Don't forget... I mentioned that great place in TENN, but there is a place that looks just as good, or even better. Its near Atlanta. Trails, cabins, (3) MX tracks, mud swaps, food, atv shop , camping..etc. Sounds like a good time.. still a ways from Miami..but better than TENN. General / Where to Ride? / 160 Miles of Trails! Open all year!

Sounds too good to be true, but there is a great riding place with 160 Miles of trails, 72,000 acres of leagal riding. Its open 365 days a year, 24 hours aday. Its open to dirtbikes, Quads and 4x4's. The only drawback is that it is 950 miles from Florida.... But may be worth the drive for a vacation. You can go here for more info. http://www.coalcreekohv.com/I have not been there yet, but would like to take a trip there. Anyone been? ROB Ft.Lauderdale

I had the same idea. I was planning a trip all summer..Now its September and I still have not gone. I am busy traveling for work on Weekends and just don't get a chance. If it were closer, I would drive..but its almost 1000 miles. I was going to ship the quad up and then fly up, but that is too time consuming and expensive. Renting is an option..but what do they rent? anything decent? I see from some rental location..the average rental is about $175.00 per day. Thanks for bringing the Lord and prayer into this. He is the only one that can help. .... God Bless!!! I really don't think that God (if there ever were such a thing) could help in this sitution. It is up to fellow human beings to help each other out. Instead of wishing and hoping and praying that the "LORD" help those in need..why don't you help the people out yourself with donations or volunteering. I am heading up that way next week to offer my skills and the services of my company. Do you really think that is there really was such a thing as a 'GOD" that he would let all this carnage occur? People die? Think about it.

I just wanted to say Hi. I live in Pa but my parents and some of my friends live in FLorida. I come down at least twice a year. It is a great state. Hope to meet up with you people someday. the more mud you find the better. PA is actually one of the states I am considering moving to. I am looking at GA, PA or CO. ATV riding is a big part of my life and since living in Florida, I have been lacking so much fun. florida SUCKS when it comes to riding. The few places that you can ride, are far away or get very boring after a few times. Then the summer heat prevents you from riding for 5 months of the year. Who wants to wear all the gear and helmets in 90 degree heat. I will miss the warm winters, but plan on spending dec-Feb in Ft.lauderdale. From what I have been reading, it looks like PA has he most riding locations...old mines, woods, trails etc... ROB

I myself have been looking for a helmet cam and have found several different ones for about $125- $200. It depends on the resolution. You also have to determine what type of recording device to get. A camcorder will work, but can be easily damaged with rough riding. I found this new product out there...Here is a link: http://product.samsung.com/event/optin05/sportscam_site/This camera has a regular lense and also a bullet cam to mount on your bike. No moving parts , as it records on Flash memory.

I purchased a 4000w Generator during that Tax Break last month. It was $299 at Pep boys. I have had it running since last night at 8 pm. It powers my full size Fridge, 2 room A/C's, lights, computer, fan and a radio..no problem. I filled it up once (4 gallons) and its still running.

General / Where to Ride? / HUMPS look WET!

11:30 AM- Sky 10 on Miami channel 10 was just showing the evacuation of the Keys and Card sound road. They were panning down the road and surrounding area and you could see the Humps very clear. You could see the trails very clearly. It looks as though the area is under a great deal of water. Has anyone been recently? With this storm coming, I guess the Humps or holeylands will be too wet.. Oh well..

...HE DID NOT STEAL THAT QUAD ! ....
I will agree, it has not been investigated enough to know if it was the atv that was stolen the same night. Even if it was his OWN ATV, the whole accident should not have happened. Does anyone live near "Southwest 153rd street and 101st Ave" or have any updated info?

The sister asking how come the SUV couldn't see him No lights on the ATV is how. I agree with you! ...but the REAL point is that the ATV had NO business being on any type of street, especially at 3:00AM, with no lights, no helmet, with a passenger! An SUV sits high and the ATV is low, how could the driver see the quad? UGGH!

UPDATE.. After reading the WSVN story, they did not mention that the ATV was stolen. If you watch the TV news cast, they have a segment showing a man who explains how his banshee was stolen from his garage. It shows a HUGE industrial Chain that was "CUT". Now his ATV is ruined... the thiefs family will probably sue the owner and say" you did not secure it enough"... Try and catch the video on Channle 7 WSVN tonight

I was watching the news at Noon and saw a story about a 23 year old who STOLE a Banshee at 3:00 AM, drove down the main street and crashed head on into an SUV. The thief was killed and a passanger on the back was injured. How many things are wrong in this scene? The crying mother on TV said her boy was a good kid and always rode ATV's on the street . It's a terrible tragedy, but I find it difficult to feel bad under the circumstances. The story and video are at: http://www1.wsvn.com/news/articles/local/MIA2593/

Kawasaki And Suzuki ATV Alliance Changes
ATV Sports Wednesday June 1, 2005
Since 2001, Kawasaki and Suzuki have had a strategic alliance that allowed the two companies to share models and resources. That is about to change with the 2006 model year. Both companies announced they will discontinue all shared models after the 2007 model year.
Kawasaki and Suzuki have shared several ATVs throughout the alliance. Kawasaki received its KFX50, KFX80 and KFX400 models from Suzuki’s LT50, LT80 and LT-Z400, respectively. For the 2006 model year, Kawasaki will still have the KFX80, KFX50 and KFX400 models. In 2007, Kawasaki will have the KFX400 only. The 50 and 80 will not be in its model lineup.
Suzuki, on the other hand, has had two Kawasaki models in its lineup. The Twin Peaks 700 (Kawasaki Prairie 700) and its QUV (Kawasaki Mule) will not be available to Suzuki dealers for 2006. This means Suzuki will not have any alliance models in the future.
The alliance is still in effect, but it will not include sharing ATV platforms. Both companies will work with each other and share resources.
