Some replies to this post have been bothering me for days now.  Your opinion may be that having that many people at one event is not how you like to ride, but there are obviously many people that disagree.  You may not prefer to go ride at a place that mixes ATV's with trucks, buggies and all other kinds of vehicles, but there are obviously many people that disagree with that too.  You may also prefer not to ride where people are drinking alcohol or where you may encounter some nudity, but again, many people must also disagree with that.  Mr. Sales did make a very strong effort to provide control out there.  He had the Okeechobee Sheriffs Department setup basically a sub station on site, with deputies patrolling on ATV's, in trucks cars, and on foot.  He had a large force of his own staff to patrol in addition to the deputies.  They were constantly addressing any instances they found of underage drinking, unsafe riding in travel areas and all types of inappropriate behavior.  The reality is a mid size city came to town for a few days twice a year and the size of that city has consistently grown over the past few years.  It may have outgrown the available space for this event, but I do not know a very effective way they could have told us that only X number of people would be allowed and then they would have to close the gates.  Everyone that showed up after that would have been very mad.  It may not have been your type of event, but it sure did show anyone that wanted to look that there is a huge demand for someplace for people to ride how they want.

Secondly it was said that if all "those people" would support the Motoplex, Paul would be more willing to provide more property for people to ride.  I think it great that Paul has opened a place for people to ride and has made investments and improvements.  That is North Florida.  That is 5 or 6 hours from us down in this area.  I prefer to look locally for a regular place to ride.  What do I find in my backyard here.......had Mudfest twice a year and enjoyed that, but now it is gone.  Year round we have L-Cross.  I am not going to bash anyone for supporting the Motoplex, but I do not see why people put that support exclusive of all other places, particularly places much closer to them. 

I have been a "regular" at L-Cross since they first opened, when you took me there MP.  I have seen personally how Mark & Patty Pearce have listened and consistently made the investments and improvements people have asked for.  They have always had deputies and security on site at all events.  They have provided camping and have expanded the area as needed over the years.  They have improved the roads.  They added swimming holes.  They had cold showers and people wanted hot ones so they built them and enclosed them.  Vendors are always there to provide hot meals and other types of merchandise.  People asked for trail rides so they opened up thousands of more acres and provide 25 mile long trail rides.  People asked for a track so they built one.  Motocross trails....added those too.  When people complained that things were getting too rowdy for families, they split the events up.  Now there is a family event the 3rd weekend of every month and an adults only event the 1st weekend of every other month.  That gives both groups of rider what they want without having to endure the things they do not like.  The MX track and trails are open every weekend except when there is an adult event going on.  They have live music at the events and have brought in big acts like Jason Aldean, David Allen Coe, Confederate Railroad, Molly Hatchet, etc.  Mark and Patty stepped up at the last minute and hosted the ATV Rally last year when other arrangements fell through.  The bottom line is they have always been willing to listen and give us what we wanted.  And no......I am not an employee of L-Cross....just a fan.

I have not been over to C&R in years, but I understand they also provide a great place for people of our hobby to get out and enjoy.

Mudfest, L-Cross, C&R, Motoplex.......whatever your pleasure..........I say just support them while you can......or as you can see, they will be gone!

Yes...Okeechobee did opt out of the dirt road law.  Having businesses in Okeechobee and attending County Commission meetings I can tell you that the Sheriff is committed to stopping the riding out there.  Just visiting a friends out there for a BBQ last weekend we did see a rider being literally arrested and his bike put into a law enforcement truck, which was a first for me.  I do not know the circumstances, if he had been drinking, was wanted or whatever, but that was the situation and it was on a dirt section without a house nearby.  Even our friend that lives out there will not let us ride from his property anymore, land owners are upset about the destruction and crazyness and are fed up.  He sold his bike and bought an airboat and has to trailer out now for recreation.  Sucks!

Hot July weather, ice cold cocktails and a bunch of wild people having fun in the mud.  Sounds like a great recipe for one heck of a time if you ask me!!!

The saloon sure is nice and it is great that they have their own airstrip to fly in.  I hear the rodeos are pretty entertaining too!

Once again.....L-Cross giving the people what they want!  I am sure this will make a lot of the riders on here very happy.  Thanks Mark & Patti.

No,no,no . It all started when I went down and asked the bus riders if they wanted to come out to L-Cross then all the gay business started. I were mearily trying to break the ice, seeings how a few were barred from this site. But guess what, I wound up calling Cain an azzholla there just as in a earlier post, just as I am now.

Oh, 1 more, trying to be helpful.... then he asks if your suppose to have a permit for a well out there, c'mon Yunt read it again. Most of the time on DS's site yo did a fine job Yunt, but as soon as he showed up the site went to the sheeter.

Yep....I really enjoyed that site back then too.

Detective Shoots Pit Bull

RIVERVIEW - A Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office detective shot and killed a dog this morning.

Deputies went to serve a warrant on a man they believed to be living at ***** **** ***** Rd. They were looking for Robert Davis for failing to appear on a contempt of court charge.

Detective John Masson, 32, looked over a privacy fence in an effort to find Davis, according to sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter. A 2- to 3-year old pit bull named Cheech came out of the fenced-in area and went between some sheds and a pickup truck, she said.

Carter gave the following account of the incident, which took place at about 6:45 a.m.:
The dog came out into the open and started growling at Masson.

Masson grabbed his gun.

The dog lunged and the deputy fired four shots, killing the dog.

Brandy Downer, who lives at the address with her boyfriend Mitchell Davis – brother of the man being sought by deputies – said the dog was hiding under the truck when it was shot. She also said Robert Davis never lived at the address.

The case will be reviewed by the sheriff office shooting review board, Carter said.

"There appeared to be no problem with the shooting at this time," said Carter.

The trail ride is out the back and to the North of the event area.  It is a great ride back into Florida scrub, pastures, riverside and there is a lot of wildlife back there.  Really enjoy the trailrides and hope they can be expanded in the future.

Now up to 32, worst shooting in US history.  Can not imagine how one guy can kill 32 college kids like this.

The officers stationed out there now wanted proof of ownership in the development, proof of registration of the bikes, titles to the bikes and even then we were told could only ride on property actually owned, not even on the dirt roads, as Okeechobee County has already opted out of the state law.  Another area bites the dust!

Looks liike a great place to me.  Too bad it is 495 miles and about 8 hours from my house!

As the saying goes......another EXTREME EVENT!!!  This time the main extreme was the nighttime temperature.  But even the chilly weather did not keep a few of us hardcore riders from hanging out in the mudhole until after 2 am Sunday.  Sure was nice to get back to that roaring campfire though.....and to even have a special visitor greet us at camp (Some might even say that was a sign from up above....LOL).  Realy enjoyed the bands at the concert.....Cody McCarver has a hit on his hands with that Red Flag.  Many thanks to Mark and Patty for such a great time out there again.

Cody McCarver looks like a great bonus we will be getting in this concert.  L-Cross does good with getting the new talent in early....I remember seeing Jason Aldean out there 2 years ago right before his first hit made the charts.

St. Lucie County Commission is meeting tonight, Tuesday Dec 5th @ 6:00 p.m, and they will try to exempt St. Lucie County from the law which lets ATV's ride on dirt roads:

Dreth and I, along with whomever we can round up, plan to go and speak against the exemption.  We need to stop this and let them know if they want to exempt the roads they need to support another place for us to ride. I know some of the dealers will be there too.
