Been a while since I've been on here.  Looking for a good shop in Broward County to do some repairs to my Rhino and Maverick.  I know Aintskeered had a shop he worked with but don't have his number any more and don't remember the name of the shop.  Really don't want to take it to the dealer.  Any suggestions?

That's an understatement. 

For those of you who haven't been on here as long, Bones used to have a video of his gang at Croom put to Deodato doing his version of "Theme from 200:1 a Space Odyssey" (Also Sprach Zarathustra).  Maybe if he's feeling good about it, he'll re-post it here.  It was (is) a great video!

It's a shame you took as vehement stance as you did, Aint.  Clearly, the initial reports and gut instincts of most people have prevailed.  

The prosecution then began presenting its own slate of witnesses, starting with 68-year-old Charles Cummings.

He sat a few seats down from Oulson that January day in the row in front of Reeves. During the previews, Cummings said he heard Reeves and Oulson talking, and at one point, the latter said, "I'm just texting my 2-year-old daughter."

Soon after that, a "very agitated" Reeves left the theater then returned a few minutes later and again addressed Oulson.

Moviegoers recounted what happened next.


Mark Douglas Turner -- who spent 27 years in the Air Force, including time as a clandestine officer who worked in China -- recalled a relatively calm Oulson saying, "Do you mind, I've got a voice mail from my daughter's babysitter? Do you mind I check to see if my daughter's alright?"

The atmosphere changed considerably soon after that. While witnesses did not recount what Reeves said, Cummings said that, whatever it was, "I felt Oulson had enough."

Alan Hamilton, a corporal with the Sumter County sheriff's office who was taking in a movie with his wife, said he heard Oulson saying, at one point, "I am trying to text my f**king daughter, if you don't mind" -- using graphic language that Reeves' lawyer said suggested Oulson was angry and threatening.

The popcorn flew in Reeves' direction soon thereafter.

"And almost immediately," recalled Turner, who said Oulson threw the bag, "the gun comes out and there are shots fired."

Oulson then stumbled and said, "I can't believe he shot me," before falling on Cummings' son, the witness recalled. A nurse who also happened to be in theater then testified -- as Oulson's widow, Nicole, wiped away tears -- about unsuccessful efforts to save his life.

According to Turner, Reeves said, "Throw popcorn in my face."

Hamilton said that right after the shooting, he acted quickly to take the gun from Reeves -- who was sitting, as he'd been during the shooting -- and subdue him.

Before more authorities arrived, Reeves' wife told her husband "that was no cause to shoot anyone," according to Hamilton, the law enforcement officer who was then off-duty.

Reeves responded by pointing his finger at her and saying, according to Hamilton, "You shut your f**king mouth and don't say another word."

The off-duty corporal said that at one point, Reeves pushed back his glasses and said out loud, "Holy f**k, what have I done?"


This was clearly an aggressive person (Reeves) who felt privileged due to his former life.  Now he has no life at all.  Seriously.  Who made this guy the hall monitor other than himself?

I have a 90 cc 2 stroke Apex with Elka shocks.  I spent a small fortune on this bike and it's time to let it go.

There is quite a few decent write-ups on snorkel's for the MAV.  Not sure if they are any different than the XRS, but the inline fan coolers have been the ticket to belt life.  Also a real clutch setup like QSC or AirDam /// does wonders.

I deleted the ACS on my 14 XMR 1k, best thing I have ever done hands down.  Forget that air ride.  Overall after selling my air shocks it cost me just over $200 including the re-program from Buds Mega-Tech dealer and Fox Podiums.  I'll have to get some pictures up but my build is posted on Can-am forum and MIMB

RR can get boring if you just keep using the same trails.  Lately what I've been doing is trying to see if I can get myself lost then find my way back.  Just keep making random turns at every intersection.  You never know where you might end up and sometimes find areas you've never been to before.  Can get pretty challenging down in the southeast section.  The western areas are not challenging at all, although there are some old trails that are fun to ride.  

If you are serious about Taylor Lake, here are a couple pics from our trip.  I've posted these up before but never tire of looking at them.

Welcome!  Florida's not the most friendly state for OHV but there are still quite a few places to go.  The first thing I would suggest is buying access to Suburban Estates or River Ranch, since you're in Central Florida.  You can easily do those kind of miles in a day, particularly at RR.  I would also suggest you look into Tate's Hell up near Tallahassee.  It's mostly forest service roads and high speeds are frowned upon but you can put in lots of riding in a day.  If you like to travel, I would highly suggest Taylor Lake in Colorado.  I went out there a few years ago and we put in as much as 100 miles a day.  Some of the most beautiful country I've ever seen.  It lies between Gunnison and Aspen (in fact, you can ride your ATV to Aspen and walk around town).  There are a few ghost towns to visit (Tincup, Pitkin and St Elmo) as well as riding ranging from 7,500 ft to 14,000 ft.  Enjoy! 

Still have the Outlander, which brings up one of my only complaints about the Maverick.  The engine on the Outlander is smooth and quiet while the engine on the Maverick is noisy as hell with quite a bit more vibration.  Sounds like piston slap.  It's sounded that way from the first time I started it; only 194 miles on it, 9 when I picked it up.  No lack of power, though.  It's a beast.  Love the suspension, too.  Although that leads to the second complaint.  Twice now I've had air system faults.  Both times it allowed the rear suspension to deflate.  It worked itself out but I hope this doesn't end up being an Achille's heel.  I had someone at RR tell me that his shop does a lot of work on Mavericks and the first thing they do is trash the Fox air shocks, pump and all.  That's one feature that I really like; being able to adjust suspension on the fly.  Especially to be able to raise the machine 4 inches before hitting a mud hole.

Just bought one and took it to RR for the week.  Amazing machine!  Anybody else on here have one yet?

Several things I would say about the articles posted.  First, the amount provided in the funding is miniscule in relation to the type of project most riders would want.  $1.5 million per year isn't going to cut it and the money must be used within 5 years.  Second, note that the Florida Greenways and Trails is administered by FDEP.  FDEP is the closest thing to a police state security force as anything I've ever come across and if you believe for a second FDEP will ever provide significant funding for motorized recreation in Florida, you're dreaming.  Note also that the funded projects referred to are pedestrian in nature.  And that's probably the rub; if you accept MAP-21 RTP dollars, 30% must be used for motorized recreation and 40% for combined (diverse) use.  My bet is that FDEP has no intention of providing funding for motorized projects and, as such, it would be counter to their culture to accept MAP-21 funds that stipulate they do so.  Unfortunately, un-regulated agencies like FDEP or EPA answer to no one; in fact, the Governor or POTUS (respectively) mostly answer to them.

The way I read it is that the State had the authority to opt-out of any alternative plan (of which off-road programs were classified) and still receive full funding.  Most government funding has a use-by date attached.  Typically, it's not just a 'use it or lose it' proposition.  States that ask for the money and don't use are penalized in the next funding period.  My guess is that Scott chose to use the money for projects that are ready to go rather than risk asking for money, ear-marked for OHV, then not be able to produce, which would penalize the State in the future.  You have to remember that there is a strong environmental lobby in the State of Florida that stands in the way of any proposed project they don't agree with.  These projects can be tied up for years.  Generally, money ear-marked for a specific purpose cannot be moved to another.  His decision makes sense to me.
