Title: Oh lordy Post by: LakeMaryKid on November 27, 2005, 09:49:50 PM Toyota or a V8?
I can not stand the thought of getting a truck that doesnt sound like a truck. To me a truck is a v8 with a nice set of true duals straight from the headers with the deep throaty sound. You cant accomplish that out of a V6 toyota though. But then again, you cant navigate the tight woods trails with a big full size truck. In all honest opinions, do you suppose i should get an f150 or something like it with a v8 or the toyota with a v6? The problem is though, the majority of those trucks are 100k trucks, after that they start having problems. The last thing i want are problems. So which shall it be? Title: Re: Oh lordy Post by: Chuck_Norris on November 27, 2005, 10:00:48 PM You shouldnt navigate the woods when you're 16. When your sh*t breaks a part-time sh*tty paying job wont cover it, then you'll look like a loser riding the bus. 8) Now that was intelligent....LMK get what you aare comfortable with. not what is going to make you cool or the talk of the hour. effectivly speaking the V6 and the 4cyl yota's pack quite a punch and are still great runners when the reach 100k on the ticker. an older push rod V8 may not be as lucky. key point is to make certain the good maint. was done on any thing you elect to get. Maybe im just being picky, but nothing screams TRUCK than a v8 with a deep throaty sound. Not saying yotas are wussy trucks or anything. Hell i saw a v6 pull a loaded semi out of a ditch. But the sound....the sound. Nothing like a nice v8 sound!!!!! And the v8's these days are 100k trucks practically. Title: Re: Oh lordy Post by: o4250 on November 27, 2005, 10:19:13 PM Hmm and since my post was deleted, I'll say it again. When you're 16 you shouldnt navigate the woods, you'll be surprised how quik your crap can break. When that age you have a part-time job and prolly pays for crap. Then you will ride the bus. 8)

Stick with the YOTA. less gas, and it will last longer.

It has way over 115K with no problems (gonna go further I bet). But if you are out to drive a 'plated' vehicle in the woods....... get a jeep, a Ford Bronco II, or a GEO Tracker...something that is affordable and that withstand the ride. Sorry I can't help you on the V-8 sound (You want to trail ride or listen to yourself?). Besides, the above vehicles can be found for not a whole lot of money). I owned a GEO Tracker (1995/5 speed/AC/CD player for $2800 two years ago). People get too caught up in looks and sounds. Get a vehicle that will go where you want it to and get you back. When you are the only person coming out of a trail....and you are carrying/towing the other stranded drivers...nobody cares what you sounded like. If you like the sound of a V8 more than a V6, you will probably be happier with the V8. Plus, I am sure a V8 is going to be able to tow more people out than a V6 due to the fact that it is more powerful. But on the other hand, gas prices are killer and a V8 is going to drink like a monster. The Toyota is smaller so it will fit in tighter trails. In the end the decision is yours and yours only so pick what you feel you will be the happiest with.

Title: Re: Oh lordy Post by: yunt2ride on November 28, 2005, 08:28:16 AM I'd say whatever you get, put the loudest pipes you possibly can on it. When my daughter gets a little older and starts to date, I am gonna offer to install pipes on every guy she dates. I will put straight pipes on it and that way there will be no way of them sneaking up at night to drop her off. I can meet him outside with the shotgun if need be. LOL
Title: Re: Oh lordy Post by: Ida_Mann on November 28, 2005, 08:36:21 AM what's that sound gonna gain you? the claims of gaining horsepower from anything other than headers is crap,,,,and you'll just get tired of the sound after a little while. Get what you want, who cares what it sounds like.
I got a 5.4L V-8 and when I first got it,,,,that's what I wanted was the sound, but when I priced it and learned about the horsepower gains,,,,let's just say I never got it done. anywho, let us all know what you decide dude. There also great on gas. I rather have a smaller truck to go mudding with. Good luck. Post some pics of the trucks your looking at.
