I have a similar question. What do you use on the plastics?

Krylon Fusion is the paint that you should use for plastics.  Just read the instructions on the bottle, and you should be good to go for a while.  Most people that paint there plastic use Krylon Fusion.

If you want to go cheaper and use spray paint, use engine paint, its more durable then the normal stuff.
If its all apart, look into powder-coated, its not that expensive. It is also the most druable way to go

I have to second the krylon fusion, im using it right now to paint my hood and its coming out really good, the high gloss white looks just like the white yamaha plastics.  Super easy prep too, no sanding or anything, you just wipe the plastics down with some paint thinner and spray, can't beat that.  Its cheap at 5 bucks a can, thats always a plus.
