I had a pretty good friend bring his '96 F-250 diesel (over 136K miles) to my shop after it was in an accident.  I could have totaled it but he didn't want it totaled so I kept the bill low enough the insurance would pay for it. (mistake #1) I repaired it then when I delivered it here is a list of things he said worked before the accident : 1)rear passenger window worked (found rusted out track) 2) dome light worked (found no bulb, apparently they disappear after an accident) 3) now dome light doesn't go out (found a rusted out plunger switch in the door) 4) rear door lock didn't work (found it pushed down in the door) 5) driver door switches fell into door (found news paper stuffed under it to keep it up, then replaced it with fresh paper) He also blamed me for his bald tires. There was more but thats all i could think of.

I traded a 7.5 flipdown Audiovox TV, ac/dc power converter, new in the box Infinity 6X9's- 330 watts, and a new in the package 4-gauge wiring kit for a supposedly new in the box mini dirtbike with BarterMaster21.
Let's just say he got more than his monies worth. I started the bike, it ran for 5 minutes, and never ran after that. He told me he was going to get me a go-cart, but after 3 weeks of no news, I bashed him on the site and he pretty much ran off with me getting nothing.
I'm not so nice now when it comes to doing business on here. Besides the gun, I haven't tried to sell anything on here anymore. I'm not mad though, I'm Gangster like that...I slipped, he gripped!!

Are you a regular gangster or an OG ??

Title: Re: Buying from a so called friend
Post by: 1FasterBlaster on March 14, 2008, 04:18:37 PM
OG...LOL I haven't even had a chance to shoot the gun yet. It's a nice looking little gun though.

Being Gangster and all, I need a bigger gun anyway!! I use to pack a wrist rocket back in the days. I didn't play!!

So let me get this straight......... This member sold a swamp buggy to another member. The buggy didnt start off the trailer went she delivery it. She just had the buggy repaired (head gasket)...... The member that bought the buggy found water in the oil. He call her and was told to call the tech that worked on the buggy. The tech claims that she overheated the engine and warp the head before selling it to the other member. Now she doesnt want to refund the money back to the other member. if this is true, looks like a good small claim court should handle the problem.

When I buy something I make sure I am happy before parting with the cash. Tail light warranty as far as i am concerned with most deals like this. What kind of person buys a blown up buggy?

Yeah, 'My Name is Earl' teaches us all about Karma. Perhaps you should spend more time with a Chiltons manual, and less time making vague threats against someone for your screwup? Last time I bought a motor that had blue heads I took a minute to check it was actually paint...

The world would be a great place if people took responsibility for their own actions and failures. In your case, you bought junk without inspecting it. There is no other way to look at it, unless you are trying to say Rebecca is a slicker used car salesman than Scotty and somehow owes you for your lack of attention back in Auto Mechanics. Perhaps SD should hire her....LMAO.

As for friends, I have plenty. I still inspect vehicles and tools I purchase from them though.

Jack,  When you deal in a small town as I have for 22 years or sell to friends or family there is NO SUCH THING as.."AS IS" I have fixed things as much as 10 months later that had nothing to do with the way the vehicle was SOLD but fixed it because it was the right thing to do.  I still take folks @ their word everyday and get burned everyday. Vehicles are not made in heaven and we all realize that things break but when there is intent there to DUMP a problem and no intention of righting a wrong it changes things. When I sold the RECON to Jim his kid blew it up the first weekend @ the Ranch (sank it) and ran it without draining the water from the filter box... I still didn't hold his feet to the fire, I let him out of the deal. The fact that she refuses to help or even address the situation is what raises the eyebrow. In reference to Hiring her...that would NEVER happen, Everyone that works @ Heartland Motors are LOYAL, Family oriented, Christians that I have known for 20 years or better. Also any dealership that I have EVER worked @ any sales rep caught misrepresenting a vehicle to sell it or lying (not saying it doesn't happen..it does) would be FIRED on the spot. JMHO

The only one putting on a show here is the original poster. I didn't bring this public.
I gave my opinion and threw some humor at the situation I know little about, but have surely experienced it on both sides with all sorts of deals.

I'm thinking a law should be enacted that to own a buggy you must build it.
Sorry you told your friend to buy junk, but the way I see it a $300 motor from the boneyard will have you guys back in the game. This thread is just drama over BS IMO.

JMHO

I have no idea how you run your business, I just know people are ALWAYS crying about used car dealers. Google UCD jokes...haha..but I don't live in a small town and Rebecca is not a dealer anyway. Like I said, If I bought a buggy (or any vehicle) I would let what the owner was telling me go in one ear and out the other while I inspected the rig before parting with my hard earned cash. People certainly don't pay me for fixing their satellite system until
they are happy.

Private deals are ALWAYS AS-IS unless expressly agreed upon beforehand.

The trailer and running gear is worth the $$$ anyway...at least from the pics.

The only thing that would help the situation would be the people whining about not being mechanically adept as to not buy a rig with a burnt motor, now expecting some reparations for ignorance to just start wrenching...LOL, no time for that with so many cool internet sites though....LMAO

I'm getting to many reports about the swinging singles thing, so I locked it. I removed it once then you posted it again. So now the thread is locked.
