Title: TRX450R quick modifications
Post by: 400exRacer77 on January 12, 2005, 06:50:05 PM
WHOOWE. i have a friend who has a TRX and we were experimenting with it and we took the air box lid off and jetted it to a 168 main. (it has a 118 stock, BIG JUMP) well it ran very lean for a while and he said it started acting up. so today i jetted it bigger and messed with the needle a lil bit and GOSH!! i think the trx's have something for the YFZ's if u wake them up. we put a 182 in it (remember its a stock motor) and lowered the clip on the needle one notch. honda really restricts the air and gas flow stock so wake ur TRX up u gotta go FASTER. Out of the corner BBBRRRRRRAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!

Thanx Chillin, was yours lowered and everything??  I bolted some pro-wedges to it because he said it wasnt hooking up with the stock tires and I kept the front end up until i hit third to put it down.  Them things run pretty good, i've been waiting to ride one since they came out.

I just had my 450R re jetted, added a new pipe, and had the hop up kit installed as well as the front gear knocked down a tooth.

GPS top speed 79.3 out at Ocala on a straight run

The power band is much smoother now, it's not as torquey down law which makes for smooth transitions out of the turns.

Does anyone have a legitimate speed reading on the Yamaha?

Just curious.

79mph and you dropped a tooth on the front sprocket? You must have 26in. tall tires on it.

20 inch tires with spinners..X-hibit pimped my quad.

That mph reading was taken with the original sprocket in the front.

Also note, that was in Ocala on those rolling hill roads opposed to a flat surface...and it's a max speed on a GPS.

It has since been lowered to 13 in the front. If you didn't pound the throttle out of the turns she wants to
stall out with the 14 tooth in there.

Sorry about the misprint.

Peace out
Vegas

last time i checked adding aftermarket parts does not change your top speed unless 1) it changes the rev limit 2) you change the sprockets......

bottom line is who cares what the top speed is, it is how fast you can get there.....
