Well I finally got to try out my snorkel from Triangle ATV and it works great.  I have two questions though.  My airbox is not 100% water tight.  Any suggestions for sealing it up but still having access to it ??  Would plumber's putty work ?? 

Second question, is there any way to snorkel or plug up the crankshaft vent that runs into the airbox directly below the air filter ??.....Just in case I do get water in the airbox.

the vent is for some emissions crap. if the vent goes all the way into the airbox, silicone caulk around it on the inside and out and the it will be sealed in the airbox. than you can probably silocone caulk the airbox lid on too. just load it up with caulk around the gasket part and when you put it on it should give a nice seal. that stuff would come off too to get to the filter if you just pull on it. then just do that every time. a tube of that only cost like 2 or 3 bucks. it would last a long time too. thats what i used to seal my homemade snorkels and i never had a leak so far.

Are you sure you can just seal up that crankshaft vent ??  That's not going to cause any problems ?? 

Take your airbox lid off and fill the outside ledge with grease, That will seal it up ggod and tight.

no, dont seal it up. does it go all the way into the airbox? if it does, seal the hole that it goes through and seal the airbox off. if it doesnt go into the inside of the airbox, you might need to run it up to the top with the snorkel.

Yes the crankshaft vent runs all the way into the airbox and it is sealed.  I guess my problem was water leaking into the airbox and then going through the vent into the crankshaft....and eventually into my oil.  So I guess I just need to seal up the airbox and I should be fine.   Yay or nay ??

yea, seal up the airbox then. grease or silicone caulk. look for any drain holes and anything that would let water in though. we had a bike that we snorkeled and we missed a little tiny hole and guess what, water in the engine. it was a stupid drain hole or something.

and don't forget to plug the carb drain tube that comes out of the bottom of your carb. It also serves as a vent when the drain screw is closed. And also re run your differential and brake vents as well, either run them up alongside of your snorkel, or up into your headlight pod.

Also don't forget the fan motor vent if you have a fan

I've already snorkeled the front and rear diffs, brakes, and oil cooler fan (no radiator on the bike), along with the airbox.  I was not aware of a carb drain tube located at the bottom of the carb.  There is a screw at the bottom that adjusts the idle....is it close to that ??  and you can just plug it ??  That won't cause any problems ??   Thanks !!

There is a carb bowl drain hose at the very bottom of the carb. If you don't plug that, water will get in the bowl. Just put a screw in the opening of the hose.
