Has anyone gone at night time to try to ride :)

no!! but i'm sure it's still trespassing at night too...heck they might even say your doing a drug run..lol

If you're referring to the "squares" off Beeline Hwy, a.k.a. "Towers," offically known as the "Loxahatchee Slough Natural Area," we patrol it at night too. As I mentioned in another thread, this is a posted Natural Area under restoration, making it a construction site. Entering a posted construction site is Felony Trespass. Please avoid this area.

When I got pulled by a Ranger in Feb (didnt know they closed the place down) I swear he was looking at his watch ten times like it was time for him to go home (it was about 4:30pm) betcha anything thay don't patrol EVERY night!

We, along with Evironmentalists, Conservationists and the general public monitor a number of ATV and Off-Road websites. As for "secret" hiding places, we find most of them through citizen complaints :(, not the websites. Just use a little common sense on what you post on public forums. The websites are a great tool for keeping everyone informed and organizing to secure properties for ATV/Off-Road use.

I've been watching these posts and want to first off thank PBSO for his input. I feel it is a great thing that we have someone with some insight as to what is going on out there with what is legal and what is illegle (riding spots)
Now to my next  subject, Just like Griz posted, If you're going to ride somewhere that is illegle then use your head for something other than a hat rack and don't post it for the world to see. I understand your frustration with loss of riding areas but you only make things worse for all of us by riding somewhere that you know is off limits. Think about it.

dirty2.....sure they'll take it back,give you a full refund and maybe even waive a downpayment on a boat so you can row away after crying like a baby to them,like it's thier fault you didnt research your purchase before you bought it,are you really that idiotic to think they will take it back,they dont rent them........

No I didn't think so .Maybe after receiving many complains from all the people that have atv's about no place to ride. They would start complaining to the state and write letters. Everyone knows the way the dealers work they would tell you what ever you want to hear just to sale. I wish I would have done some research to late now I guess. But it does not hurt to dry I'm going to have a  [smiley=drink.gif] now so talk to you later.

Do as I did and take up fishing.  I is alot easier to drive 10 minutes to the boat ramp and fish for a couple of hours than driving for 2 hours to ride the atv's.  Just a thought.

Still closed. Can't ride day or night. Jeeps/enduros/sandrails are fine if they have tags and stay on the PAVED roads.

PS. All you local Naples folks PLEASE STOP riding on the paved roads in the Estates. Your PISSING home owners off and they in turn call the cops.

I posted this somewhere else already.  In the rules of Picayune it says vehicles can ride on named and numbered streets and trails.  I'm assuming that means you can drive your 4*4 truck or anything else that has a tag down the trails that do not have signs posted as Closed.  The question is did they post a "Closed" sign on the trail that leads out to the priaire.?

Yep, and Collier County now has an "ATV task force". I know one of the deputies. (he is pro atv) He may cut some folks slack but it's hard to do when they are doing donuts on Everglades/Goldengate Blvd.

Is this something that you are doing on your own time or while you are on duty? Seems like a waste of taxpayer money to me. It's ok to sell crack on a street corner in East Fort Myers, but you can't talk about your riding spots on the internet because we are under surveilance.

I think you missed the point. That being....Don't talk crap that will mess it up for others.

The point is, that we are being monitored by the police like criminals. Crack dealers and sex offenders don't get monitored as much.

Monitored? This is a public website.The bottom line is that we know our posts are being read, with that being said, don't post incriminating pics or comments. I personally welcome the in put from law enforcement or anybody else.

First off, if you are a known sex offender your picture and address are listed on a federal website for any and all to view.  Just to let you know.   Instead of whining because some law enforcement people (who are mostly pro-atv) are looking into the website, take it and use it as a resource and maybe they can help us keep some spots open and provide us with some insight on how to effectively help ourselves.

Well there's two way to go about life.....whine and moan when things don't go your way or try to be optimistic and be glad we atleast have some places to ride.    

I have about 5 different riding spots within 20 minutes each direction of Yeehaw Junction off the Turnpike.....if anyone wants to know of some new spots gimme a hollar.

Yes Sir,

1. River Ranch (gotta have property, you know the deal)

2. 3-Lakes Widlife Management Area  (can only ride from January to March)

>>>  There is a southside (off road 60) and a northside (off road 441)...both have camping sites

3. Holopaw (gotta have property and a key, which I have)

4. Bull Creek Wildlife Management Area (2 miles east of intersection of 441 and 192, same riding dates as 3-Lakes)

5. Okeechobee Prarie (off 441 about 15 miles south of Yeehaw Junction)

All these places are kickass  :)

Shotgun, I read and reply on this site on my own time. I don't mind giving some of my time to help the sport and guide people into the right direction to preserve what limited riding areas we have. As for the crack dealers and the sexual offenders, we have specialized units, along with road patrol that enforce these issues. Most law enforcement agencies have volunteer programs, such as citizens on patrol and crime watch. If you feel not enough is being done, volunteer some of your time and make a difference.

prnstar123, If you've been reading my posts, I think it's clear I'm not trying to "bust" anyone, just inform. I think most riders on this site appreciate an open line of communication with those that do the enforcement. Yes, 80% of my patrol time is on an ATV. Basically, it takes an ATV to enforce ATV laws and ordinances. By keeping riders informed, it helps prevent "black eyes" for the sport, helps prevent the loss of riding areas, and makes my job a little easier.

The police are only doing their jobs, I can appreciate this. Funny thing is, that thousands of acres of woods around cape coral are being leveled as we speek to build more houses, yet my little ATV is causing enough destruction that we have to dedicate tax payer money to pay these guys to ride their ATV's where we can't and write us tickets. Makes perfect sense. By the way, I have never seen one of these guys actually in the woods, not have I ever gotten a ticket.

ok ok back to badluck...i ride out there in my truck every now and then to remember the good times... :'(   they got just about every trail head posted road closed and some even have bolders blockin them off...but couple weekends ago some of my lawless friends not including myself took a ride out there , they didnt get caught but i wouldn't try it...they patrol the tail heads lookin for fresh tracks then head out if they see any thing and i think they even have a plane patrolin durring the day every once in awhile good luck ::)

prnstar123, When I say "monitor," it means someone is reading the forum, but not responding or registered on the site. They are just monitoring it. But I can assure you, they are taking notes. Not everyone shares the same view of ATVs as you do. Opponents of ATVs read this forum all the time. All the bashing and open discussion of unlawful activities is ammunition for them. As for "busting" riders, I don't need this site to do that. They do it to themselves by riding on the roadways, noise, trespassing, destruction of property and littering. I'm only here to help everyone involved by providing facts concerning enforcement, promote safe riding and minimize "black eyes" for the sport.

Shotgun, The unit currently patrols on Polaris Sportsman 500s and Honda Rubicon 500s. We are getting a Grizzly 660 in the near future to evaluate as a replacement for the aging Polaris ATVs. They are equipped with lights/siren, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, 3.0 Warn winch. Some have turn signals, eventually all of them will. 80% of our patrol is on the ATVs. Out of a 10hr shift, I usually spend 6-8 hours a day on mine. Palm Beach County is one of the biggest counties in the state. We patrol 50,000 acres of protected Natural Areas. We patrol for poachers, unauthorized vehicles, drug activity, dumping and fire prevention to name a few. We also provide security and police services to those visiting the natural areas. I'm glad you haven't seen us or have gotten a ticket, becuase that would mean you were in a PBC Natural Area.

50,000 acres in palm beach 1million acres or more in the Florida everglades and their is no place for us atv/dirtbike riders. Taking 5,000 acres in palm beach or in the Florida everglades for riders will not put a dent in the natural areas/wildlife since you guys are already out there patroling you can keep an eye on us. Don't you injoy to ride your atv with your patrol coworkers. what do you think about giving the riders 5,000 acres of the 50,000 you guys patrol. Do you think that would do any thing to the rest of the 45,000 acres.  [smiley=Confused.gif]

i heard they might open some of that area back up?would be cool!!!but guess if your caught night riding,that might piss someone off and they might change there minds about possibly giving us some riding area....just a thought...seems logical ???

dirty2, you'll have to take that issue up with the County Commission. I just patrol it. As for patrolling, it can be fun, but when it's a job, it takes some of the excitment/fun out of it. Especially swatting sqeeters.

I use to live in cape coral off of chiquita and cc pkwy behind publix. You can ride out off burnt store rd I believe and 82 in leigh high

Everyone rides off Burnt Store, but is it 100% legal? I doubt it, and once they shut it down, which they will eventually, I'm trading my quads in for Jet Ski's.

Just so you guys know.. they are still pulling people at night for offroading... when i went out there last sat night to go camping i passed by a off road Jeep... ive already got a $50 ticket from them... they said that you are not even allowed to have a trailor out there unless its for a boat... so they are pretty strict

if everyone wrote there local and state officials as much as they write on this site we might have a place to ride.

Did you get the ticket in your vehicle or on your atv?

Opperation Restoration just won the battle with Mr. Hardy the last property owner out there. looks like the riding out there will most likley be gone for good.  >:(     Another riding area gone in SW Florida.

i got the ticket at my vehicle... but they found me riding my atv out in badluck... and followed me back to my truck

I have been doing a lot of things about it... if you ever see anyone driving around with save badluck stickers on the back of their vehicles... that is because of me and my friend. We had those made.. but ive just been way busy lately to do anything...

Supposedly in June/July we are going to be able to buy permits to ride out there.. but you cant trust that untill its in your hand and you have been riding for quite some time.

where did you hear that  i went down to thier office on sat. and I asked them bout that and they didint know anything...that would be sweet if it was true!  :'(  i say when we know its finally over all us locals go out for one last ride. im going though withdrawles

From what I heard is You will be able to ride everything except BADLUCK, so you can still ride the blocks, squares, 56th, etc...
