Title: ford f350
Post by: snowmanzz13 on December 17, 2006, 03:24:27 PM
okay, so yesterday, we put in a new headunit in our truck and wwired it in and everything, and got it finished up and the dash back together, turn the ignition on to see the radio turn on, after maybe 15 seconds, the truck started by itself, does any one know of anything that we could have affected while doing the radio? it does this repeaditly and we cannot figure out how to disengage it but it doesn't affect driving or anything, but when the truck is any amiunt of warm it just cranks over without letting the glow plugs even warm up, any suggestions would be appreciated

Sounds like you tapped into the starting circuit or you have a short somewhere.

05s are pre-wired for the Ford remote start option. You must have taped into in some how. Possible tapping a wire you thought was ground but is a relay switch. (ground key off~hot key on, etc.)

Unplug the radio wire harness. Does that fix the problem?

I'm off today, but if you dont resulve it by tonight, I can check the wiring diag at the shop Tuesday.

dad took the truck to work today, and won't be home for a while, where is the antena for the remote start, is it right above the gauge cluster behind the dash, cause thats the only thing i think we moved over that way, just pushed it back behind the cluster

The antena is in the remote control box not in the dash. I'm pretty sure the pigtail for the system is near the radio; that's why I thought you may have conected something to it.......

the only thing we connected was the the harness that went to the original radio, that really wide one, we got a connecter that matched the ford one and put it to the one that alpine had for that radio

The 2 hot circuit are
hot at all times=(VBATT) light green with a violet trace
hot start =(VPOWER)Red with black tracer
Illumination= Light blue with Red tracer
Gray with black tracer goes to the ABS control module
Pink Wire is accessory delay

Black and the black with a green tracer are the 2 grounds

I can see there being a problem if you have tapped into the Pink wire.
Hope this helps
Tap the light green for Memory and the Red with the black Tracer to turn it on when you fire up the truck

If it were my guess based on looking at the wiring diagram Id have to say the pink wire. I will get with my lead tech in the AM as see. in the mean while let me know how you have things hooked up and I will try to figure it out with you
