My bike has had some bald tires for awhile now so I want to get some new ones before im done with it. Im rebuilding the motor right now and want to have some fresh rubber under it so im ready to hit the trails, its been a while. Im mostly a "recreational" rider - trails and stuff. At RR and the Pumpkin Run I could have beifited alot from a little extra tread. 20" Mud tires is all I need for what I do. I dont go looking for mud but sometimes I have to go through it. Nothing deep or anything. When I get stuck my friends laugh because I get "sissy stucks". My buddy has 22" maxxix sur traks and theyre awsome but only come in 22"+. I want 20" so this is what im looking at....Something with a flat profile, light weight, designed for a sport quad---http://www.itptires.com/sportatv/mudlite_sp.html

They look rounded out in the pic, I think with a little less air pressure theyll flatten out. I want to still be able to slid around. Im hoping these tires will act like a conventional sport bike tires but with more traction for the slick stuff. What do you all think? Thanks

Look into some dirt devils, They were cheaper, the thread pattern is similair, and they got GREAT traction in mud, and the trails on my z400 and warrior.

yeah, I really like the tread design on the dirt devils but I can only find them in 22". Do they make them in 20"s?

I run regular I-razr rear tires and they work perfect for mud.

That was some bad mud.. Never got stuck though. I guess it is the rider.

I've found the old school Super Swampers work very well. They were availble in 20in at one time,not sure if the still are. My son-inlaw and I went out to Badluck several times with Swampers on our old Warriors and they did great.
The holeshot type tires should work fine if you get the most "open" pattern. I would stick with an mx/trail type tire up front. Without 4WD the "bar" type tire will not steer well.

i have sean 489 on a honda 400 sport bike and handle the mud very well you will lose some punch with any mud tire

i have 21" gbc mudsharkls and there great. 21 is the smallest size and there flat not rounded

22's are only going to make it 1in taller, and most are only 21" anyway.  The selection is much greater in 22"ers.  
If money were not an issue The GBC Mud Sharks are a great tire at 21x12x8-9-10  The OD is only 20".

I got the Kenda Bear Claw K299's in a 22x12x8 for the little bit of mud we run into, but mainly for the sugar sand, and decent hard pack traction.  Durability, wear, traction, width, price, etc.  I thought they were the best bang for the buck.

I got my son the K530 Pathfinder further down on that page, and they perform WAY better than expected.  My daughter will get stuck with the stockers, and he'll ride circles around her.  LOL

Everyone told me the Mudlites wear really quickly(not something I was interested in)

The Bear Claws work great for me on the trail, hook up stellar in the deep sand, and mud, slide around corners,..great tire.  If you don't have any mods, I'd go down a tooth on the front sprocket due to the extra traction, rotational mass, etc.  The trick with mud is DO NOT STOP.  I got buried with them because I got 1/2 way across and stopped.

I had 19" front mx tires and elka shocks in the front, thats why the front end is so low. The rears are 22. When I ran them on my warrior350 it turhned them really good to.

Thanks everyone for your input, After doing alot of thinking about what you all suggested Im likeing the Holeshot GNCC. Kinda scared of lossing my clutch. And Ill have plenty of power but I dont like the idea of sacraficing any of it. Anyone run the GNCCs? It says theyre very light and their tread is more open compared to the regualar holeshots

If it's sand, like Croom/ONF, or mud, I don't think that they'll hook up as well as some of the others mentioned, and I feel better acceleration in the soft stuff, not a loss of power.  But then again some of the mud/lug style tires just dig in the sand, I only have 1st hand exp with the bear claws, and pathfinders...  In that style of tire however, how about the Maxxis All-Trak's?  I'm going to get them for a Blaster I'm rebuilding.  I love the side knobs.  I like the Razor2's as well.  They were a favorite when I was asking for sport mud tires, and they come in a 20" size.

the all-traks weigh over 18lbs each. i believe the gnccs weigh like 15 or less. and by looking at the razer2's and the gncc's it looks as if the holeshots are more aggresive since the lugs are more spaced out . thanks

Im not a sport quad expert but I do know some stuff about tires. I have mudlites on my 250 ute but I doubt they would be a very good tire for a sport quad. They have the tread for some mud but I would doubt that they would work well on a track. Any tire that is degined for mud will work good if you drive it right. If you know your limits and dont stop like banna man said then your tire wont have to be a huge decision. I would just look into size and weight is important. Dont go soley on personal claims because I have never had a problem with my tires but other people say that mudlites wear down fast, they dont do good in the mud, ect... So just read what everyone else said and go with what you think is best..

The Mud Lites I was looking at were the "SP"s. I know what you mean, everyone has their own opinion and will tell you something completly different then the last guy. Right now since the mud tires are going to be heavier and since there isnt a wide selection for 20" sizes im looking at GNCC type tires.

yeah, i have the mudlites on my blaster 200cc and they pull it out of everything, have yet to get stuck with them on, and it's been a couple of months with them on

On my banshee believe it or not the best hooking tire I have tried has been the kenda knarlys.They will work best when tou cut every other row of.Thats the only tire that i could wheelie with on dirt.If you try them you will love them.The gncc tires as well as Irazrs will ware down really quick.They hook up alright.Yfz450 stock tires hook up like glue to but ive never tried them in mud.holeshot hds are good to but man they are heavy tires.

Just to let you all know I ordered the Holeshot GNCCs last week, they should be here soon. Not what I origionally planned on but I think they are a better all-around tire. Anything will be a huge improvement over the bald tires on there currently. Thank you so much for all the help, information, and personal experiences you provided me with.  :ThumbsUp.gif

my brother has gnccs, he seemed to hook up great on surface mud, im not sure how they are in real deep mud, im sure a mudlight would b beter for deep mud but the gncc is a much beter choice for a sport quad, i like the maxxis i-razrs to, im sure they are about the same.i think the i-razr is wider in the back

Surface mud is all I really need to worry about, I can avoid the deep stuff.
