Title: Re: my new lt-z400 Post by: Chevy1500z71 on May 13, 2006, 03:08:17 PM thanks guys its an awesome machine i love it glad i bought one and i think u guys are right im going to go with a yoshi trs full exhaust nice, i have a trs full system... ull love it, and u will destroy toms crapturd, i no i do! ;) Title: Re: my new lt-z400 Post by: TRX450R_Racer on May 13, 2006, 10:33:27 PM The first thing I would do is buy a 2004 clutch cover. I don't know if you are aware iof the problem with the 05 and 06 Z400/KFX400/DVX400. They change the clutch cover material to magneseum. The 2004 cover is aluminum. The woater from the coolant corodes away the magneseum cover. Eventually mixing the oil and coolant and causine engine damage. Not to mention the damage to the cooling system from all the metal fragments flowinf throught it. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but here is a link to Z400 Central.

Title: Re: my new lt-z400 Post by: TRX450R_Racer on May 14, 2006, 02:24:42 PM yea that what i was talkin about . the way i look at it ill let them be the one to fix it till they give me a recal notice im not changin it and with the stuff ive done to it it ont take a hour to put it back to factory. so they made the mistake they will get the new motor if it comes down to it In my opinion that is the WRONG thing to do. I would buy the new parts. Fix the quad, because I wouldn't want to mess up my new quad HOPEING the dealer will fix it. Then save the old parts and the receipt and hopefully get reimbursed someday down the road. Once it does finally break 1) You will be without a quad. 2) If they haven't made it a recall who knows how long it will take to get the OK to fix it for free 3) What if they don't cover all or any of it you will be without a lot more than what the cover cost Do what you want. I'm just trying to help you out. Title: Re: my new lt-z400 Post by: kfx400rob on May 14, 2006, 02:29:54 PM mother of god people, when and IF the clutch cover fails, replace it!
its that simple, iv never had a problem with mine, i think that might be because i changed the coolent within 2 months of buying it. i think that its not as big of a deal as some people are making it to look Title: Re: my new lt-z400 Post by: The Quad FaJa on May 14, 2006, 07:43:02 PM I love the colors.....looks realy good!
Title: Re: my new lt-z400 Post by: lt-z400RR on May 15, 2006, 01:02:10 AM ya thanks guys im deffinetly going to look into that clutch problem and see if were i bought it from can get me a new cover or somthing to fix it with and im pretty sure im going to go with the full trs system as far as i can tell it will be the best match for the quad
Title: Re: my new lt-z400 Post by: floydamus on May 15, 2006, 08:42:57 AM well if you break into the motor your self with a extended 5 year warranty then you void the warranty and if they don't fix it it will jsut give me a reason to build a motor. and the easiest way to fix it is just to change to a coolant that want harm the magnesium.
Title: Re: my new lt-z400 Post by: lt-z400RR on May 15, 2006, 11:12:56 AM so if I replace the coolant that will stop this from ahppening? what kind do iget that won't hurt the magnesium?
Title: Re: my new lt-z400 Post by: floydamus on May 15, 2006, 11:19:24 AM im probably going to go with amoil cause i can get a discoutn with a guy back home ill give you more info on it when i get it . it been brought up with him before i think with dales but not sure so ill let you know
Title: Re: my new lt-z400 Post by: floydamus on May 15, 2006, 11:32:39 AM aight found out throught a few guys in a poast in my back home forum. but they are recomending usin evans. with dales they have the same issue and i know few that have had dales for awhiel and are runnin evans ill let ya know what i can get it for and mess shortly
Title: Re: my new lt-z400 Post by: TRX450R_Racer on May 15, 2006, 02:24:01 PM Correct Evans is the only coolant that doesn't contain water. Water is the problem. You must flush the cooling systen 3 times wil 50% vineger and 50% water. This is the most important step. The system must be COMPLETELY DR before you refill with evans coolant. I don't know how to do that other than compressed air and just leaving the system open for a few days. Good Luck
Title: Re: my new lt-z400 Post by: Chevy1500z71 on May 15, 2006, 02:48:30 PM ya thanks guys im deffinetly going to look into that clutch problem and see if were i bought it from can get me a new cover or somthing to fix it with and im pretty sure im going to go with the full trs system as far as i can tell it will be the best match for the quad whene you take the old exhaust off you will have to remove a coolent line on the cylinder(instructions will say exactly were) so u will drain the coolent anyway. so u mite as well just take the water pump off and check it out while theres no coolent in the bike, i did when i put my pipe on and it was fine Title: Re: my new lt-z400 Post by: lt-z400RR on May 15, 2006, 03:39:48 PM ok good ill look into that evans coolant if u guys fine out more about it soon let me kno I just ordered my new exhaust today and will be here maybe friday or monday of next week so I got some time but let me kno this sounds kind important thanks

Title: Re: my new lt-z400 Post by: lt-z400RR on June 02, 2006, 11:02:15 PM well i got some new pics of my upgrades on my bike... so far i got mxr6's 20's up front and 18's in the back on black ITP Pro Locks i got and i got a full FMF Power Core 4 exhaust with a Powerbomb header (only reason i didn't end up with the yoshi cuz it was back ordered and i am wayyyy to impacient to wait) i got Pro Armour nerfs and i got a Pro Armour bumper, and i rejeted it with dyno jets and a Pro Design Hi flow air filter kit and i got a GForce axle set for +4 and Durablue +3 wheel spacers up front.
