Title: more bad publicity 5 minutes ago
Post by: fasterblasterGP on July 27, 2004, 05:42:52 PM
a guy on a honda CR250r was running from the police, a cop car was behind him doing 65mph, about 50' from an intersection a cop was passing by looking for the guy, as soon as he seen him he through it in reverse and the guy on the dirt bike slammed into the cop car, didnt have time to hit the breaks, estimated speed at impact was 50mph, only thing that saved this guys life was his helmet! i took pics of the bike an how bad the cop car was so ill post em in the next few days :( :'(

it was both the officer and riders fault, cause after wards the cops grabbed him and i guess the paramedic's said they may have messed up his neck or back more then it was, the officer went to the hospital for stree or something cause he was freaked out, had everyright to in my book, if a dirtbike hit my door at 50 so mph i would be a little freaked out

Valrico is near Tampa and Vero is near Cocoa. I doubt it was them. Thats all the way across the state.

not everyone can afford or live by a mx track. and people that ride the highway usually die.

ur right not everyone CAN afford it, im only 17 and i had to buy all of my stuff myself, and its STILL apart... and if ur smart on the highway, u wont get caught or get killed. its all in that thing that sits on ur neck.

dang im not goin over there..... i cant ride on the raod anyway, my $250.00 set of tires will go bald in like 3 seconds, too much money to waste to have to pay more when u get caught. Its all in the head if u want to though............

It's not worth it to run.  99.9% of the time you just get a warning.  If not you get a 125 dollar ticket.   If you run and get caught you're looking at a fine that's in the thousands and most likely jail time.  Not to mention lawyer fees.

i got stopped in a field next to a highway and the cop just admired my quad for awhile and then asked me to load them all up and ride somewhere else because of traffic concerns .

We have all done stupid things riding on or around the road.
Me no exception but if you see the officer stop and take what
ever is coming to you. Most times if you come up to them and
explain to them with a reason they are cool. They are people
too and they know when you are shooting them a line.IF you
get busted then take it like a man,

around here most of us in the department have quads so the only time we say anything is when we get a complaint. then it is our job >:(

yea , only 1 or 2 officers around here have quads, and they are the only 1 or 2 that dont bother us, and if they do they let us off with a warning, and my luck so far only the other cops have stopped me lol

Hey RappyCop03, do you happen to work for LeeSheriffs? Cause last november, I was riding and looked up to see a chopper following me and then I pull out of atrail to see like 5 Sheriffs cars pulling up to us and someothers and more sheriffs driving in the area. Oh thiswas in lehighacres. If you knew about this, could you explain what was going on, cus the sheriff that gave me a written warning just said  the you are never allowed to ride here again. Just interested in cause that place was awsome and the first time i was ever told to leave by any authorities, mostly they would talk to me and once they even asked if they could ride my friends honda rincon. Im not bashin you guys, but just interested in what exactly was going on. Also, if you know anything about the tresspassing signs over at yucapen. Thanx a lot.

Cape Coral doesnt like atv riders :'( and the yukapan is located in the cape also people were driving stolen goods out there and blowing them up i think there was a couple dead people not quite sure bout that and mostly people getting drunk and driving not a good idea but besides all that its a fun place to ride when the rangers aren't out there (mon-thurs) lol

Running from the police is just plain stupid whether you can get away or not. If ATVs were made to ride in the street they would be registered as such. If your evading the police then your breaking the law which is something this site doesn't promote right? If your old enough to legally ride the size bike your on and your not riding on the street then the only law you could possibly be breaking is tresspassing, which in most cases will just get you a warning. If your running they assume there is something else wrong like possibly a stolen bike or warrants etc, etc. It's the people that run from the police that make it harder to get a break when the rest of us get pulled over. Are you a  law abiding citizen or are you not a law abiding citizen? Fortunately we live in a country that is governed by laws. My dad repeatedly told me and my three brothers growing up that if you get pulled over you should allways show respect and have the yes sir no sir attitude. That has worked for me several times. Even if the officer is being a hump it makes it harder for him to bust your balls. Make your own choice whether to run or not but dont have a pity party when you wreck, get locked up or treated like a little beotch. And if your bike gets stolen dont complain that the police aren't even looking for it.MAYBE THATS YOUR BIKE THAT SOMEONE IS FLEEING ON. Okay I feel better now.No I'm not a cop I just get sick of them getting dumped on.

Just in case any impressionable teenagers are reading this post please make an EDUCATED decision before running from the police. You put yourself and others in danger not to mention starting or adding to a criminal record. Fleeing and evading whether its in a car or on an ATV is still an arrestable offense.

Cableguy yuo could not have said it any better. Even thought Miami-Dade County Doesnt have a chase policy(cops cant chase you unless its a forceable felony). Its not worth it your not gonna out run the radio. And for the cops that have been involved in chases,,, The adrenaline is really pumping at those high speeds if they catch you your goona get your A%& kicked, plus pay for any damages that you may have cause. AND what if you "Accidentally" kill someone and not yourself you A # $ is going to hurt for at least 15 years in state prison. Remember now you gotta do 85% on your time and there is no such thing as good behavior release in this state. SO you kids want run go ahead crime does pay. Thats how i make my living.  And its a good one here in miami too.
