Title: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: backinsaddle on May 09, 2006, 06:10:46 PM Bet most of you youngin's never heard of Can-Am...you will now
http://atvscene.com/machines/can-am/renegade800-firstlook.html A clip from the article: Effective immediately, Bombardier's (BRP) is now known as Can-Am. Not only has the company's name changed but so has the overall mind set. Upper management at BRP has given the Can-Am design team the full green light to do whatever it takes to return the Can-Am name to the racing dominance it enjoyed in the mid 70s. “We believe that the Can-Am brand better represents the positioning of our products in the marketplace and provides the perfect platform to reach out to and attract powersports enthusiasts,” said Jose Boisjoli, president and chief executive officer, BRP. Like other BRP brands, Ski-Doo and Sea-Doo, Can-Am's focal point is delivering machines with massive horsepower and they plan to concentrate mostly in the ATV industry. Sounds good in my book. Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: svtbolt04 on May 09, 2006, 06:24:51 PM The renegade is going to be like the outlaw..
Would be nice if they come out with a DS450 or somthing. Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: MachineDog on May 09, 2006, 09:02:00 PM An outlaw with an 800cc Rotax, Visco-Lok and CVT. :| The ute already beats some sport quads, this new sport-ute's going to kick butt on trails. Hope someone gets one soon so we can get some reviews.
Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: AintSkeered on May 09, 2006, 09:08:19 PM Yikes! The Can-Am website is a porn site! Don't look, you'll be very sorry! Instead of camo, are they going to offer rainbow?

i tried the can am website just cuz u said that, and it is Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: MachineDog on May 09, 2006, 09:11:50 PM Forward. They use a TTI(R) suspension designed by Can-Am. It basicallly makes the wheels attached to two swingarms instead of a-arms so that the wheels down move butterfly which can make it hard to keep in a forward direction on agressive trails.

Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: kfx400rob on May 09, 2006, 09:17:50 PM hey it comes with holeshot atrs too
il have to say tho thats one of the uglyest quads iv ever seen Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: kfx400rob on May 09, 2006, 09:20:07 PM Can-Am design team the full green light to do whatever it takes to return the Can-Am name to the racing dominance it enjoyed in the mid 70s. i dont think that that thing is gona dominate any racing? Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: ebtrx450r on May 09, 2006, 09:22:26 PM Yeah I'd have to agree with you rob... It's pretty ugly and doesn't look to be race designed.
Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: MachineDog on May 09, 2006, 09:30:19 PM Man, if that's anything like the Outty 800, it'll be able to beat a YFZ. Not to mention be a challenge for blasters.
Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: svtbolt04 on May 09, 2006, 09:36:47 PM They also said the outlaw was going to be a good woods / GNCC style bike, but they arent that great at all. The IRS doesnt help to slide the rear end around.. I wont buy the bike because its going to be really wide..
Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: MachineDog on May 09, 2006, 09:38:28 PM True but then again, This is mostly a trails bike like the KFX700. Too big of a motor to be made light enough for the kind of acceleration in MX.
Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: svtbolt04 on May 09, 2006, 09:39:29 PM Do you even know what GNCC is...
Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: MachineDog on May 09, 2006, 09:40:41 PM Not an idea in the world. :| I ride utes for the most part and the 800 is a damn fast quad.
Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: svtbolt04 on May 09, 2006, 09:41:49 PM GNCC is woods racing. Stands for Grand National Cross Country. Not to be confused with GNC.
Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: kfx400rob on May 09, 2006, 09:49:22 PM that thing is prety much a outlander 800 with different plastics, it probly weighs ALOT
Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: svtbolt04 on May 09, 2006, 11:02:47 PM Man, if that's anything like the Outty 800, it'll be able to beat a YFZ. Not to mention be a challenge for blasters. I think you got that mixed around, unless you were being sarcastic. Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: MachineDog on May 09, 2006, 11:11:45 PM Wasn't being sarcastic, a little exagerative mb. And I meant banschee.
Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: AintSkeered on May 10, 2006, 08:28:45 PM We heard the same doubts when the Outlanders arrived on the scene. Today, no one who's taken the time and effort to ride one(or ride with one) knocks them. And, that goes for the 400, 650 and 800s. Their only knock is the price and although Hondas cost as much, no one complains. My 03 Outy has been ridden aggressively since new and I've had to replace a corroded voltage regulator and a seized CVT clutch pulley because of my addiction to mud. Then, last week, I replaced an $8 themostat cover. Let me see you get three years of abuse on original brake pads with any chain-driven tranny!
Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: MachineDog on May 10, 2006, 09:09:26 PM Honda costs as much?? Woah. I never even really noticed that.. huh. Sucks that the rubicon is so underpowered. I really like the Hondamatic.
Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: kfx400rob on May 10, 2006, 09:10:22 PM an outlander 800 is like 10 grand do hondas realy cost that much?
Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: MachineDog on May 10, 2006, 09:14:13 PM Honda doesn't make an 800. The 650 Bomb is about 7900 and so is the Rincon at 7800. Where the Yamaha and Suzuki are like 7200. :dunno.gif
Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: AintSkeered on May 10, 2006, 09:17:25 PM Honda Rincon;
http://www.rivayamaha.com/asp_units/06hon_utility_atv.asp?ATV_ID=FourTrax%20Rincon%20GPScape 800; http://www.rivayamaha.com/asp_units/06bom_mid_atv.asp?ATV_ID=Outlander%20800%20H.O.%20EFI Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: MachineDog on May 10, 2006, 09:30:25 PM Honda Rincon is a 680 not an 800. So there's no comparing it against the Bomb 800. Compare it to the Bomb 650. http://www.can-am.brp.com/en-US/Vehicles/Outlander.650/Models.htm
Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: AintSkeered on May 10, 2006, 11:00:05 PM My good buddy and neighbor has the new Rincon and it's very, very nice. But, after my experience with my Outy 400, I still prefer the Outys. Although the Can-An/BRP 650 MSRP is $100 more than Honda's Rincon, the Can-Am/BRP dealers are aggressively penetrating the market by getting the Outys out the door for less than the Hondas.
Title: Re: Bombardier is now Can-Am Post by: Fox17 on May 11, 2006, 10:32:27 PM you get what you pay for. honda is the way to go.
