Title: Tires - 18 vs 20
Post by: UncleRico on February 26, 2006, 12:23:18 PM
I'm thinking of switching tires on my 450r.

Besides lowering the center of gravity, is there any other benefit from switching to 18" from 20" in the rear?

I was looking at the Holeshot MXR6 from ITP.  Does anyone have an opinion on these tires?

Thanks

Uncle Rico

It will be easier for the motor to turn 18's than 20's.  You'll get better traction.  Better acelleration.  If you have aftermarket shocks & a-arms you'll get a better feel of your suspenion.  Better cornering if your getting 20's for the front.  That's all that I can think of if your going to ride or race MX ;)

mxr6???? the sx's?

smaller tires, better acceleration, lower acceleration, and looks nice :D
i run mxr4 front and back, 20 front, 18 rear, love it.

yeah, have you ever seen a bike like that?
have you ever seen how funky it looks, i have 19 fronts and 18 rear and i gotta say it looks good.
bigger in front by like 4 inches looks awky.

18's have a smaller sidewall which improve the turning performance of the quad, less tire roll. same with the front, with sharper turns.

You hit the answer right on the head ;)
