I had to turn the wheels sideways on the 400EX to be able to get them both in the trailer.

got a couple of mechanical issues to fix first, but very soon the rear tires will be replaced I'm sure.

I just have no idea what to put on there and am thinking just matching up what's on the front with the rear,,,,also, I was doing some reading up and found that this thing has 27" tires on it when stock they are supposed to be 25",,,,anybody know if that's a problem or if I should go back down to the 25"?

I know, I know,,,,take it to the "Tech Corner" ;-)

One of those Moderators might move this post soon cause of that ;-)

27's are fine. My Foreman turn 27 Outlaws no problem. Not to mention I get through holes in 2 wheel that most quads get stuck in 4 wheel. Thats a great machine. Oh yeah, Congrats. Now you need to come ride with us.

what I'm curious about is am I doing damage by running a larger tire and not gearing it down somehow?

I'm game to go ride in the mud now, let's go.

Kool, good choice of bikes.  What year is that Ida?

And what does it mean if you start on the dark side and then switch??

When are you taking it out?

Ida you'll be fine with the 27" tires, I run 26" and can't tell the difference most of the time. Like said, all foreman's are geared very low, that's one reason they are the most sought after quad fur mudding.

OK I just put a target on my shirt, fire away.  :R

The major change larger tires make , is the acceleration rate from a standstill. But a Foreman's first gear is so low, I never use it when riding normal. You can out walk it.

I would just ride it like it is and get somewhat used to it, then change it like you want. The only thing I would look at right away is the Perfex suspension upgrade. The best $90 I ever spent on mine. Makes the ride so MUCH better, steers lighter also.

LIGHTER steer? fer crying out loud, I took it out on the (OH NO CALL THE COPS) road around my neighborhood and the steering felt just as light as my 400EX and felt like I had to fight to keep the wheels straight once it passed a certain point in the steering,,,,like it wanted to turn more without me trying.

and I think I'll leave the suspension alone for now, the little bit that I rode Dreth's Rubi sold me on getting one cause I was so comfortable on it even over the dreaded whoops.

Nathan, congrats again.  After your call I was looking forward to coming home and seeing the pics.  This was the first thread I opened when I got home.  I'll look forward to having ya out w/ us.

As for the tires.  All smart ute riders go w/ a larger size tire and a mud tire of some sorts.  The verdict is still out on which is the best.  There is a list of which are the worst as far as kicking up rocks.  Most ppl go w/ 589's or mudlights.  Only real difference I've heard between them is weight but it's not much.

Free 589's go get them!  My quad came w/ 23x8x12 front, and 34x10x12 rear.  I run 26x12x12 for now.  Haven't had to do anything to the engine to run them.  Good luck getting her ready.

Its not the darkside, you have seen the light!

Thats because its full time 4wd. Look into getting the Warn 424. Which will allow you to dissengage/engage the front diff, allowing it to steer better/easier on the trails. Then you can engage the 4wd when you hit the serious stuff. It is the best mod you can put on a full time 4wd bike.

Hey kawGIRL,

That's where I got mine. The best money spent on the quad over anything else. I got a few other items while I was there. Good people to do business with.
