HEY FOLKS ITS BEEN A BIT SINCE I WAS ON! You people have been the nicest, most giving, friendly, helpfull bunch of misfitts (like myself , the misfit pa) I have ever met. Most of you frequent flyers know my legg situation, 5+ YRS 7 DOCS 15+ surgeries in 4 states to no avail they just can't fix it. Well on wednesday I am putting an end to my pain and anguish. I am scheduled to have my leg amputated below the knee. Yeah I know it sounds drastic but after this long and seeing the best docs in the world I have decided to move on with life. I am NOT looking for anyones pitty or saying poor me. This has been THE most trying times on my marrage as well as other faminly and my carrier. I lost the battle but I'm gonna win the war. God and I have come closer then since I was an alterboy. All I am asking is PLEASE keep me in your prayers. I'm scared to death but I know its for the best in the long run. I'm not looking forward to waking up and looking down. Maybe this was a test or wake up call or I don't know. I WILL be out on the trails and life will go on and I am not in control of the outcome, He is. I even tried to donate my leg to a college for research but thats like pulling teeth. I would think they would jump at the fact of getting something more then a cadaver. You guy n gals ride safe tell the people you care about how you feel. My wife has been nothing short of a saint for putting up with me and my situation. I'm sure I'll get flamed by someone for posting this but and I apologize in advance, but y'all are like a second family so I thought I should share. Thanks for letting me vent. TALK TO YA SOON sport66

God bless you brother. If there is anything that my family can do to help you out then please don't hesitate to let me know. I know that you don't know me from Adam but We can babysit, help with dinners, help with homework, whatever is needed we can help. This will be a trying time for you and your family but just remember that it's all for the better. Again, God Bless you and your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

sport66, you are a strong person go through this as many years as you have. No doubt your faith in God and character have been enlarged and many people's lives will be different because of you. You are in our thoughts and prayers this week as you take this next turn.
I have attached this picture of my Uncle Rick and his son Jesse from this summer. Rick has lived most of his life on a wooden leg but that has never stopped him from doing what he wanted in his life. He has multiple ATV's, a motorcycle and manages a sizeable farm in Virginia. Hope that encourages you in your journey.

I can't say how much all your support means to me. You guys and gals are the best. I just got back from my pre-op and the surgery is at 730 am tomorrow. I am kinda looking forward to the relief of 5 yrs of pain but am also scared chitless. As soon as I get out I'll be back on to thank you all again. My user id will probly change to stump66 instead of sport66,lol. That was a suggestion of another friend/member , you know who you are . God bless you all. talk to you again soon.

Ok I just talked to Sport66, the surgery went fine and he's doing well. He'll be coming home this weekend. He's in good spirits and is already talking about going riding. He was up and moving around some on day 1. Now its on to recovery which I'm sure he'll do fine with , he's a strong person to have survived all this in the first place. He says Hi and thanks everyone for keeping him and his family in their prayers during this tough time.

HEY GUYS!!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! Everything went great, the deed is done. I was up and getting to the bathroom Wednesday afternoon. It all took like 2.5 hrs or so. They started around 730am and I was back in the room about noon. It hurts pretty good but that's to be expected. I can still feel my foot at times. Its weird picking up my leg out of the bed and it being about 8 lbs lighter its just a strange feeling. It will take a few weeks till the swelling goes down enough to where they can fit me with a temp leg then after its all down I'll get the latest and highest tech they have, I have great insurance. I took a couple pics in the hospital with it wrapped up after the surgery. I'll post as long as no one has objections. They are not gory cause its wrapped. I am having a problem seeing images on the site though, is anyone else have the same thing? seeing red x's and no images? I'll down load them from my cam tomorrow and see if they can be viewed. I got home today around 3ish pm Saturday. I am sooooo looking forward to the next group ride or a mini ride up to ONF or somewhere. I cannot express my gratitude for all your prayers. The big man and I have started a whole new relationship and I have an entirely new understanding of who's driving this bus. We all have a free bus pass but we as individuals need to make that decision to give that pass over to God to be our driver. If that makes any sense.
GOD BLESS Y'ALL Glen

It looks allot more swollen then it is. There is allot of wrapping on it. I'll take a few more when the nurse unwraps it today if you guys want to see it. Not to be gory but I find this stuff facinating, it not as mcCobb as the display at Mosey with the freeze dried bodies but it neet.

It is incredible to see everything you've gone through. After seeing the pics of the device you had to wear for so long and now seeing these pics, it looks like you will be much more comfortable now. I am so glad everything is looking up for you! You will be on a quad again very soon That new relationship is a wonderful thing! Everything truly does happen for a reason and you have great things to accomplish still I can't wait to have you on a group ride

Didn't all this happen because some punk tried to steal your car or something? I wish him a long and painful road ahead, and wish you just the opposite. Yeah I was in miami visiting family.Late on mothers day 2000 I took a cruise to south beach. From working the area I knew better then to talk to anyon I didn't know. I was alone (thank God for small things) And these 2 young guys around 20ish were trying to get my attention. I kept ignoring them and then noticed the one in the passenger front climbed into the drivers rear side. So I paid allot closer attention to them and then I saw a pistol. I guess I could have stopped and gave them the car but there was still a chance of getting shot. So I took off from the light and don't remember much more after that, not sure if I was getting shot at ,run off the road or what but I hit a tree doing about 60-65.Seat belted and air bag. I remember being pulled as they tried getting me out after cutting the roof off but my right foot was caught. I had calf high boots on which probly saved my leg at that time. I passed back out and the next thing I recall was a doctor entering between my ribs with a scapol and sticking a tube in to reinflate a colapsed lung. Then I woke like 3 days later in intensive care where I stayed for 2 weeks. I never spoke to a cop or was asked how it all happened. Honostly I was hurting so bad I didn't care and still don't care to tyhis day. I figure in the big game they will get theres sooner or later. After going throught the last week post op after the amputation I really kinda wish they would have not saved it then but thats not what the big man had planned. The BEST thing that has happened throught it all was my wife was pregnant when it happened so I have been here for every day (expept hospital stays) of my little buddies life. My wife has had to go to work but when life changes your direction you gotta go with it. I am currently trying to get used to phantom pains and feelings. I keep reaching to itch what isn't there anymore. Hopefully this doesn't last long its enough to drive ya nuts. I can't wait to get out on the trails again. I could probly ride like this but I think I'll wait t ill its a bit healed and follow the docs orders. Once again I can't say it enough THANKS FOLKS FOR ALL THE SUPPORT!!!
