the top end of the snork..i see everyone curves it around and to the rear...this keeps stuff/water from falling in and down.
???question is..do you put anything on/in the end like a screen to keep bulk stuff / critters from getting in or just leave it the diameter of the pipe?

Most people leave it open. Generally you will have to clean the filter a bit more often, since it will suck in dust easier. If you are concerned about rodents put some steel wool in it while its being stored.

I've seen snorks with a K&N filter on top, not sure if he had another filter in the box.

I had to cut a hole in the front fender in order to get the results I wanted. You can run it out the box with pvc and flex hose then run the flex to your front rack on the outside of the plastics then attach a brace to the flex at the hieght you want it. I used 1.5 in. pvc and flex hose, I had to reduce it to a 1.25 in. adapter going into the airbox.
Take caution when testing your snorkel. Check your oil, and airbox after your first couple of deep holes.
On the Rancher you have to snorkel the brakes, differentials, the carb, and the crankcase breather hose. You should probably put a filter in the end of the crankcase breather as it is a direct entry into the motor.

the arctic cat 500 2005 was a snap.the box already breathes thru 2" rubber that clamps onto the box. remove box and replace w/ 2" pvc..extend as you wish. you can do the same w/crankcase/trans breather. i 90'd out of each into a "t" and came up right thru the removable hood pc. when you don't need the snork, just unscrew at the "t" and you don't even know it's there..i'll post pics soon.

scroll...the factory pipes are rubber and connect at the baffle box right there. the white pvc is added. all i had to do was remove the box, hose clamp into the rubber hose, install the white pvc you see. it was very easy. my buddy just got an '05 cat 400l.e. and it's breather is different. dont know if the 650's are like this or not.

would love to help, but the 3000? mile issue is in the way. the florida trip looks doomed for fall...called to new orleans 1-2 weeks for security issues. probably end up a dry season, early 2006 trip now. that's probably good though, too much water now anyway. we'll get 'er done, don't you worry. till then, keep the seat dry.
