Acerbis Handguards on YFZ

Just tried to install a pair of Acerbis handguards on my YFZ 450. They didn't fit! Do I need to ditch the stock bars and purchase an aftermark/race type handlebar for them to fit? The insert/spacers that go into the handlebars themselves did not fit. The bars seem to short as well.

it is probably the stock handle bars or you bought the wrong kind of handguards...
