tire weight

I'm looking at buying a set of mud lites or kenda bear claws.  There is a about a 10 pound difference in wieght.  the bear claw being the heavier.  does anyone know where the weight difference comes from, less tread deepth, thinner tire.  Being lighter will it be easier to get a flat?  I have honda 300 so weight is somewhat of a concer.

ive had them both and neither is to agressive so i would go with the lighter of the 2

What type of riding do you do? What size are you looking for? That would help in determining a tire choice for you.

those tires are trail tires. good for lil mudd but wont go through like anything that you'll get dirty on

i ride most trail around the house, but will hit the mud sometimes.  I like the mud lites, but my concern is how do they make the tire lighter?  Is the rubber thinner leading to more punctures?  Its just a crazy thought.

I don't beleive all the hype of flats with the Mudlights. They are a pretty good trail tire, and decent in the mud.
In my opinion, rounded carcas tends to more of a diggning tire over a flatter (square) footprint like a bug or even a bearclaw, which tend to stay on top of the mud (float) better.
The bearclaws are just older technology, there is a reason you don't see many of them around any more.

i have a set of mud lites 27 and there a good tire there good on hard pack and alwright in mud unless you hit the deep mud
